You know you own a CJ when...
When yov've got that special stick that never leaves your vehicle. You guys with newer Jeeps won't know what I'm talking about...

Lol...this is an older CJ5 question. That stick is for checking the fuel level ;)

Bingo Techlight ! It's one of those things that's so simple, but you " had to be there"...

I used to have a "gas gauge" stick for my '66 Chevy pickup...

You also know you own a CJ when you have total confidence that you can make it anywhere & back as long as you at least have a coat hanger and a pair of pliers on board. Goes for most older vehicles too...

Sorry, some of you boys may not remember wire coat hangers...

Back on track...

When you write your mileage on the fridge so you know when to get gas

And everyone knows not to erase it !!!!! :)

Handy tip: Use a china marker aka grease pencil and mark it right on your windshield. I do the same on my aquariums to keep up w/ maintenance dates...

I think that is a fantastic idea. I'm going to have to look into this upgrade. :chug:

I like that. Right now I have a piece of paper in my glove box I write it on. Much easier to see it on my windshield.

Whats in the aquariums? :bounce:

You bought your first cj for your wife to cruise around in this spring with plans of a restoration over the winter, but so far she has only driven it once because you keep finding things to fix before you trust it. (Inner/outer hub bearings, one piece axle conversion because the po installed the bearings backwards, complete rear brake rebuild, hoses/belts, carb, fuel level sending unit, etc)

1st post woooooo!!!

Hey Petescj. I've currently got a 110 heavily planted w/ Angels, Rams, Gouramis, Cories & an albino bristlenose pleco and a 55 w/ a 3yr. old Tire Track Eel- about 18-20 inches (my baby Monster;)) Also a couple of overflow tanks for plants & guppies- 20 tall & 10 hex... That's all that are currently set up. Have a bunch of smaller ones stored from breeding Bettas. And you?

Wow nothing that exciting. Just a Russian tortise for my daughter and the son has a bearded dragon.

Actually, Petescj, it's just the opposite of exciting... it soothes the soul. Can't say I've ever heard of a Russian Tortoise. Sounds very exotic. Gotta love the reps. They just need so much equipment to be happy & healthy year round in this part of the country- heaters, sunlamps, etc.

Welcome to the CJ insanity! You'll love it here. And hey, at least your significant other is interested. Put a wrench in her hand and introduce her to the "hobby" (money pit!).

My wife's basically taken over my '76 CJ5 . Back and forth to where she teaches everyday. She loves it.

Next chance you get, click the link and vote for the site once a day . Just like CJs, it can get addictive!

Welcome aboard. There's a wealth of information with these guys.

Voted. Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll start an intro thread with photos at some point.

.... the two hour job you undertook to clean the inside of your distributor takes you five days to complete !!
