- '85 CJ-7, 258/4.2L 6cyl. Bought new in 1985. Full cage, Warn 8274 winch, Ford 9" rear, front/rear Detroit Lockers w/4:88 R&P. T-5 tranny and 4:1 t'case. 33X12.50-15 BFG/AT, MSD ign, on board air---
That bigger one is from a truck. Also has thicker tubes and 1 piece axles.

- 1979 Jeep CJ7 TH400 Automatic 258 I6 Quadratrac Amc 20 rear & Dana 30 front, 32 x 11.5 x 15 tires. Currently a Complete Custom Rebuild in progress.
Also I own a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, White, all stock with 4.0L. automatic, and police package. Best part of that is it came with leather seats! This package also has the NP242 Transfer Case, 8.25 rear end, and trailer towing package.
Maybe not? Here is a picture of mine. I'm pretty sure it is the original axle and it is like the big one in Brent's pictures. Mine is a '79 CJ7 .

They are both narrow track CJ5 axles. Tube diameter is 2.50"

Never seen the 'big' 20 from a CJ. Just the trucks.

I don't know about the one piece axle. 
I haven't tore into it yet. But now I'm excited to. 
Here's hoping for a one piece axle. Below is a better picture of the whole axle. I'll post the results back here for everybody with what I find.

Found this picture. If you look at the rear hub, looks like a two piece to me. So, I thinking not.

The wall thickness may be thicker on the 1977 axle. I don't have a caliper that will reach down the tube but, the 1977 looks like the tubes are reduced more than the 1982 where they press into the housing. I wonder if the 1980s FSJ axles used the lighter casting or if they continued to get the heavier casting.Thicker-I meant as in wall thickness of the tube.

After researching my GM Turbo 400 Transmission origin, I'm finding lots of stuff that may not be OEM. The GM Turbo 400 came from Cadillac. Some of these are found in FSJ. So my rear axle may be from a FSJ truck. Also my QuadraTrac was a 1305, not a 1339. I've been told that the 1339 was always in a CJ, but an option in a truck. Rod
