That bigger one is from a truck. Also has thicker tubes and 1 piece axles.

The wall thickness may be thicker on the 1977 axle. I don't have a caliper that will reach down the tube but, the 1977 looks like the tubes are reduced more than the 1982 where they press into the housing. I wonder if the 1980s FSJ axles used the lighter casting or if they continued to get the heavier casting.Thicker-I meant as in wall thickness of the tube.
Never seen the 'big' 20 from a CJ. Just the trucks.
