In 35 years I've never had to use my spare. Always been slow leakers and made it home.

man that would be sweet. However im not that lucky/smart?

years ago i was driving over a log that had split and my front end slid sideways across the log right into the sharp end of the split log and of course i had no spare so i destroyed that tire on the way out lol

Yeah the on road hazards can be pretty bad sometimes. Worse luck on the highway than off road

Well my wife is going to be pissed when she sees that I just smoked a $170 rear wheel bearing set, I’m super glad it did not happen on the highway somewhere, I would be seriously screwed , they are the moser 45mm taper bearing set so I doubt a parts store sells them :0

Ugh!!! That sux big time!
Any idea of the cause? How far from home were you? Any indication it was going out or was it a sudden failure?
I hate it for ya bud. Hopefully this will be your last set back for awhile.

Lack of gear oil is my best guess at this moment, only indicator I had was seal failure not to many miles prior to failure. Drove it home noticed smoke from driver rear wheel. Pretty sudden failure I don’t have more than 500 miles on it since the build and both bearings are trashed

Isn’t the oil seal inboard of the bearing?

Dang!! Almost makes me afraid to even drive mine.
I could "almost" understand yours coming apart if you were out wheeling but just driving down the road makes no sense.
Again..............hate it for ya, don't give up, better days ahead.

Lol I hope so... my wife asked if I broke the Jeep already.... she didn’t like the answer nor what it’s going to cost

The way this bearing is set up it is oiled from the ring and pinion not grease

The way you see it is the way Moser sent it, bearings were pressed on by them when I bought the axles

I’m verifying my set up as I think it might be the same. Just keep us up to date dude and yeah... so sorry to hear this.

We’ll be your shoulder to cry on. Not sure about you, I’d need it.

That sucks man, and I’m complaining about having to pull my oil pan again. Moser set up is different than the G2 I guess.

My G2, has seal in board of bearing and bearing is lubed only by grease when installed.

Makes me now question if I should have done the Shum mod on mine with an added grease fitting for bearing through the axle tube.

Well, it should go to back together quicker this time around only having to do bearings.

It sure is, I have a narrowed Dodge 9.25 in my Jeep, I did the Moser hobby stock axle swap which gets me 45mm taper roller wheel bearings instead of the standard dodge straight roller bearings

When I need leverage with Amy, I'll her it's cheaper than collecting watches. She gladly obliges. But just between us boys, I've currently got my eye on a blue dialed Vacheron Constatin Historiques.

Holy Cow that’s a hell of a watch, it’s beautiful but way out of my league
