AMC 20 disc brake conversion questions.

So I have an AMC20 sitting on the floor. I figure while I'm switching over to 1 piece axles. I may as well put disc brakes on the pig.

Anyone know what all I need to buy to do this? Which disc brakes work. Where I can buy just the brackets.

If not, is there a complete conversion kit for a reasonable price?

I appreciate it this is closer to what I want. I'm looking for the bracket then what discs/calipers are being used. I'm seeing anything from samurai/300ZX to elderado or F150 being used. The bracket being the only piece that isnt part of maintenance means that the other parts should be cheap to purchase.

I'm aiming to get the brackets for ~$50 tops then spending normal price for the calipers. $300 for calipers is a bit insane don't we think? After I piece it all together I will be sure to do a write-up.

Ground pounder fab has an eBay store contact him. The brackets are $20.00 plus 5.00 shipping. Sammy or geo tracker front rotors, try the salvage yards first Sammy's are rare there but geo's are fairly common... I'm still working on cheap rotors.. Preferably without e-brake.

Ground pounder might have an idea for calipers also

Rotors should be about 10.00 salvage so your around $50.00 ish so far

Dorman 610-234 studs and mount 95-97 crown Vic rotors very available at junk yards ..

Remember reman means you need a core so junk yard for cores.

A late cj rotor may work better as I think they are thicker .088

Also the bigger piston as opposed to the caddy e-brake caliper may not require a proportioning valve

Why would you avoid E brakes?

Being from nw Ohio calcium chloride is widely used and parking brake cable rot at an alarming rate causing nothing but problems. Besides that it's just more stuff under the jeep hanging out looking for stuff to grab onto. Not to mention the fact that I don't think I've ever used a PARKING brake for parking I usually just put it in park or leave it in gear. I have never had a brake failure that was so bad I needed to use the parking brake to stop me. Imagine the limb gymnastics...left foot on parking Parker pedal, left hand on brake release in case you push to far and need to release it, right hand on the wheel trying to avoid whatever it is your about to hit that caused the emergency, your other left hand holding whatever it was you were focused on that allowed you to get into said emergency. Your other right hand up in the air in a sad attempt at defending your head from being hit by tour significant other for endangering the fam damily.

Still working out master cylinder issues with residual pressure.

Options so far are

Early eldorado master swap

Remove check ball from stock master and use a 2lb residual preassure fitting

Elaborate string/pulley/wrench setup to release preassure from rear brakes.

The Eldorado actuators adjust with the e-brake, no e brake no inspection sticker.

Didn't really think about state inspection IO. I guess that would be an issue where they have them.

Luckily I've moved from the land of the inspections (Massachusetts) and now reside in Ohio where we make all laws around the production of corn.
