Thanks CJ. they kept coming up with security issues

The Super Jeep was a one off edition they came up with in 73 when they ran out of alloy wheels. They threw steelies on them and put a Javelin 5.0 V8 under the hood. When they got alloys back in stock, they dropped the edition. 300 total production

Saw this WILLYS M38 on the side of the road on my recent trip to San Diego.

Nice find. Since I do not see any tags I'm wondering if they drive on the street.
The tires, headlights, other lenses and seats say they do.

The second photo shows a CA tag zip tied to the right side bumperette. I am surprised it passed CA smog requirements.

Almost positive it’s grandfathered in. I think vehicles 1967 and before are good. Think that’s when the epa ( :dung: started ). with emissions.

It used to be that spotting a CJ in the Rockies only required that you go for a drive. Over the last 10 years, seeing one on the road has become rare. It could be that the upkeep on these old vehicles is getting to be too much. I spotted this one hidden in a driveway. Thank goodness for the bright paint.

When out in Moab last year there were not many CJs. I remember passing a few long groups of modern Jeeps on some of the trails and getting a lot of thumbs up because mine is not highly modified. IMG_1591.webp

Whatroad is correct. Colorado native and it’s really getting harder and harder to see the reclusive CJ here. I know of only about 3 others in my town.

Wife did a “Jeep Tour” over the long weekend with the girls out in S California. Nice CJ8 was their steed.

1976 CJ5 sitting in the middle of nowhere in NW Nebraska.
Hasn't moved in about 15 years. What a shame.

Even the white letters are running... Love the old school fenderwell header dump into the bomb type muffler in front of the rear wheel exhaust. Nothing like breathing that carbon monoxide while driving! :punk:
