converting to power brakes?

converting to power brakes?
Appreciate it. I really think the 225 overhaul is the way to go. I am going to live with the new disc 30 i have and manual dual master cylinder. It will work fine. I am concerned about the gearing though. I plan on slow trail riding, no banging and bashing mud runs, but was looking at using some pretty large rubber since the Willys body is forgiving on the large rubber. It really seemed way too fast with this tranny and 4.88's. I would love to have a granny tranny, but not sure which would be an easy swap without the chain reaction problem.

Jwillys-

You may have a “big” hole Spicer 18 Transfer Case . They were used behind the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 V6 in later, early CJs, roughly 1966 to 1971. A big hole 18 has an input hole opening of about 4” where the small hole older units are about 3”. All big hole 18s will bolt up to any Transmission that was originally mated to a Dana 20 as the cases are basically the same. All input shafts on 18s and 20s are 6 spline shafts except for the ones behind a T-14 which are 10 spline. What this means is with your jeep, assuming you have the big hole have a Spicer 18 Transfer Case , will bolt to a CJ T-18 Transmission as they came mated to a Dana 20 . The other big advantage to the 18 Transfer Case is you can add an Overdrive which can really help on the road with low axle gearing. One problem with the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 to CJ T-18 swap will be finding a bell housing to bolt to the Buick (GM) bolt pattern and the T-18 ; may need to talk to AA or Novak about that one or consider a GM Transmission .
