Electrical Electrical Issue

Thank you for letting me join. I have an 84 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I recently have a problem with it only wanting to run in the start position. As soon as I release the key back to the run position it dies. I’ve replaced the switch at the bottom of the steering column. I am thinking it may be the rod not connecting all the way so I bought a rebuild kit for the key ignition. Any ideas ladies and gents?

So fuse #8 is suppose to run a 3 amp fuse. It had a 25 amp fuse in it when I removed the fuse. Would this cause the no start for the Vehicle. It’s just odd that it had such a high fuse. Thoughts?

I have not looked at your TSM but I'm saying you have a short.
