First Jeep, What oil to use?

I use a CJ4 oil for Diesel engines in my Jeep. I did the same research and this was recommended on several different classic car forums.

Yep - that's exactly why I use the Lucas 15/40 Magnum with the stabilizer. EXCELLENT oil.

I stick with a good 10w40 and add a bottle of Lucas.
These old motors dont care what you put in them as long as it is slick ;)

^^^^^The motor might not care but your flat tappet cam shaft will.

I ran unto this oil thing on Harleys years ago.Everyone said "HArley oil or the likes" I have run Valvoline 60 for over 100k miles of the 200k on the bike with no problem.
Like I said these old motors dont care.Keep it full and clean anb it is ALL good.
Heck back in the 70s we ran 20w20 and SAE 30 in them when new and they ran and lasted. This was when I worked in the AMC dealership.

I understand that back in the day you could run any oil you wanted. That's because of the oil had alot more zinc in it then it has now days.
