Gasket sealer/Gasket maker ?

I will be replacing the gasket onmy front differential and bought some VersaChem Super Blue silicone gasket maker to use as a sealant. Question : Is a gasket sealer and a gasket maker the same thing ?

Sounds like a technical question. Maybe a gasket sealer is for using with gaskets? Reading the label a bit further could provide more info.

ur exacly right, gasket sealer and gasket adhesive are pretty much the same thing, gasket maker is slightly better to use.

Yes.. the same thing.. kind of. Keep in mind that the diff will get hot and wet so make sure the sealant is reated for those conditions. I like the RTV brand products. put a 1/8 bead around the cover then replace it on the diff finger tight. wait 30 minutes and tighted down.. no leaks.

We all have our preferences, I like Locktite 515 gasket eliminator. On the diferential covers I like a gasket and sealer.

Because the pumpkin has a recessed surface to hold a gasket , or a really thick layer of "blue blue".

I think a lot depends on the product. One companies gasket maker might be equal to another's gasket sealant. But a few things to check, some sealants set up hard while others remain tacky.
Motorcycle products can also be really great. We used Yamabond (a yamaha product) on a lot of sealing surfaces at the restoration shop I worked at. Stuff holds really well, but is a pain in the *** to get off, so may not be great if you plan on changing diff fluid frequently.

He should have a 30 & 44, mine have flat surfaces on the pumpkin.
Your right if your talking about an AMC20 .

On my truck and cars that only gets changed every few years I use a gasket (no sealer) on the diff side with some RTV on the cover side.
