“I've been running K&N filters in dusty Arizona conditions for years on about all my vehicles and never knew how much damage I was doing to my engines.”
If you have been using K&N for that many years in a dusty climate, it would be interesting to know how many miles you have driven with the K&N, and what damage, if any, you have had.
That was a bit of sarcasm on my part but to the point:
750 Honda - 15,000 miles
GS 1100E Suzuki - 18,000 miles
Dodge Vista - 95,000 miles
'80 Jeep CJ5 - 15,000 on 4 cylinder & 60,000 on a swapped in 231 Buick
Izuzu Trooper 98,000 miles
Ford full size Bronco - 192,000 miles
'84 Harley Davidson - 35,000 miles
'75 CJ5 AMC 360 - 3,000 miles
Those are the vehicles I've used K&N filters on with no apparent engine trouble, ever. I lost radiators, a Transmission , the typical Ford oil leaks, U-joints, tires, batteries, distributor caps, plug wires and a couple hubs, but absolutely no engine or carburetor troubles. Maybe I'm just not doing it right.
