Does anyone have or know anyone with a gray supertop for a 1979 CJ5 ? I need the Supertop because I have nothing - no doors, no hardware, etc.

I hate to ask, but Bestop hasn't sold gray in 3 years and has no way of telling me what outfits may have one on the shelf somewhere...so the hunt begins!

Any help is appreciated. Many thanks to all.:chug:

Are you really set on gray? That might be hard to find. If it hasn't been made for 3 years even a used might not be a good idea since the soft tops don't last much more than a few years. I did a search on the internet and found this but it's an old ad:
1981 CJ5 Bestop Supertop (Gray) in Tulsa, OK [Archive] - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board
I have a gray 1981 CJ5 Bestop Supertop that is all brand new except the top itself was used 1 time. All of the hardware, doors, and windows are still in the box and were never used. I reused my old hardware and windows with the new top the 1 time I did use it.
Asking $300 plus shipping (you make arrangements)
Located in Tulsa, OK.

THANK YOU!! :notworthy: email sent...

I appreciate your time to help me.

OK... I found a gray soft top for a CJ5 ! :chug:
BUT...all I know is that it is for a 56" windshield (the current owner's is 59").

Any ideas of questions to ask to be sure this will fit my 1979? I know the pre 1976's are different somehow????

Any help is sure appreciated!

The 1976-1986 CJ windshield frame is 55” wide, the 1955-1975 is 59”. I measured my 1978 windshield frame at the top and the channel the front of the top slides into is 51-5/8” long with about an additional 1-1/2” more each side to the snap.

Thanks. I think this top I found will work! Turns out it is a Tigertop from way back. It will need a few missing pieces but Bestop has them all and were TERRIFIC to deal with.

Great brand and personnel to help out someone who knows next to nothing on tops.:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

good to know. Customer support is very important to me.
My top is so shrunk that it is very hard to put back up when I decide to take it down. I plan to replace it in the spring and I think I will go with Bestop.
