- 1973 CJ5 - AMC360 /EB Performer intake / Isky Cam / Holley Carb - T18 - D20 w/2.41 Low - 4.56 Locker Rear and Front Pwr-Lok.
The AMC V8's are a good motor and they fit. I think you would be happy with a 360. The T-18 is a very strong Transmission and most of them have the 6.32 1st gear. Remember that the T-18 shifts slow like a tractor and is most useful offroad. If you are looking to keep your Jeep a bit on the "sporty" side, you may want to keep with a standard 3 spd or 5 spd.
You can swap a ford T-18 input shaft in any T-18 to get the short combo for a CJ. You just have to change the pilot bushing and the clutch disc to the right spline.
Also remember the Dana 20 low range is only 2:1 unless you modify the gearset.
