Oil Pump?

I have a 1984 CJ7 . It's a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l L 258. I am replacing my oil pump. Should I use the stock pump or use the high flow pump that has the arm with the screen? What are the pros/cons?

I had a 4.0 with a high volume pump..All I know is that mine worked good and I didn't see any bad sideeffects..I don't know if the oil pump was the reason or not but it was the only jeep 6 cylinder that I ever had that never had a lifter tick

I just talked to a local Jeep shop that has been getting oil leaks after installing the high flow pumps. I think I am leaning toward the regular pump.

if the drain holes in the head were clogged I could see that happening..Years back I had that happen with a small block chevy that was stock.Oil built up in the valve cover.My 4.0 with the high volume didn't leak at all

Just installed the high flow ( just like one I took out). It seemed to fit well. Haven't started the engine yet but it went together ok.

priming the pump before you crank the engine is a good thing
