Possible transmission crack

So, I'm was finally making progress in getting my GM drivetrain all put in my CJ7 . I just tore down the TH350 Transmission for rebuilding. While cleaning up the case i noticed what looks like cracks. Its possible that they may just be casting marks, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if these are cracks or casting marks?

When I read your post, I thought for sure they would be casting marks.... I've seen em that look sorta like a crack but are actually raised just a bit - but I gotta say those do look like cracks. If they are, you should be able to tap the housing in the area of the cracks with a screwdriver shaft and hear a difference in sound than in an area with no cracks. If they are cracks it should be more of a dull thud than a metallic ring.

Your first pic looks like a casting mark, but the second pic could be a crack. What does it look like on the inside? Usually the casting marks don't show up on the inside, but a crack wil. If your still uncertain, take it to machine shop and have it checked.

If your worried about it take it to a machine shop and have them check it with magnaflux spotcheck or you can buy a kit for around $100 and do it yourself.

Yah im thinking about getting it checked out at a machine shop. I can definitely say that there are no Crack marks on the inside of the case. I spent over an hour looking inside and found nothing bad in there.
