I am getting ready to do the single piece axle conversion on my AMC20 . To that end I got new drum backing plates. They are used and my thought is getting them blasted and powder coated before I put the axles back together. I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't can anyone else?

So far the only thing I have powder coated is Jeep wheels. You doing it yourself ? Since they don't show much I would just blast and rattle can. Go for it !

I cleaned mine, blasted and used Eastwood rust encapsulation but powder coating should be fine.

I have a two man shop locally that is highly recommended that will blast and powdercoat in whatever color I want for €20 each. Since I want to get my running bars and bumpers blasted and coated too I will see what the backing plates look like and then probably have them do the bumpers too.

Nice! Now to keep brake fluid off them!
