Slip yoke eliminator

Question for those in the know....

CJ7 with 2.5" lift, thinking about sm465 Transmission with np208 transfer kit to replace T-4 /300 setup. Will a slip yoke eliminator kit be needed on the 208 due to length?

Why not keep the Dana 300 ? You can adapt it and still use your stock driveshafts from the T-4 .

Using the 300 is a consideration if a sye is needed....that's why I'm asking.

in my humble opinion the Dana 300 is a far superior Transfer Case , if you adapt the 300 to back of the 465 it should run you less than buying the SYE for the 208 and you still have a 208 you can sell to recoup some of your cash you spent in the swap

I would think that just the opposite would be true.I have nothing to back my opinion up except that I figure normally that parts for a full size truck would have to be more heavy duty than jeep parts.I have run both with no problems.I currently have a 208 in a CJ7 with an estimated 400 horse 350/350 turbo/1 ton axles/4.56 gears and 37 inch militarys..my rear axle is set back 14 inches but the 350 turbo and 14 bolt rear are longer than the 465 and stock jeep rearend..my rear driveshaft is 36 inches center to center on the yokes.I do not use a sye

Do you really want to use the stock 8 1/2" long or so Transmission to Transfer Case adapter between the 465 and 208? That makes for a long drivetrain package. As for a comparison between a 208 and a 300 in a Jeep CJ, my choice would be the shorter, cast iron housed, gear driven Transfer Case . I'd use the 465 with a Novak 3.2" adapter for the 300 for a good package.

The 208 is a good Transfer Case , however its aluminum housing is prone to snapping in half from front drive shafts bottoming out and the chain stretching. I personally like the Dana 300 because of its gear to gear, cast iron housing and it is upgradable to 32 spline outputs, 1350 yokes, 4 to 1 gears twin sticks for independent operation of the axles, deep pans for more gear lube, 29 spline inputs to match NV4500 transmissions rotation kits for tummy tucks, and if you really wanna drop some dough you can buy a billet aluminum case Again this is a personal preference for me, I have had both transfer cases and they do put an upgraded version of the 208 behind 1 on diesels so I doubt you will have a lot of problems from your combo

my axles and Transfer Case came from a military m1008 chevrolet diesel pick up truck..the military rates them at 1 1/4 ton.I used these same trucks for years pulling trailers decked out with welding repair rigs across plowed fields,through the woods or where ever we needed to go to do repairs for farmers or loggers.These are tough trucks...anyway,either Transfer Case would be good choices in my opinion

It's looking like I might just use the np435 Transmission that I have in the shop, and the Dana 300 ... The chevy drivetrain I was thinking about using has been claimed for another project.
