Build Thread The '80 FrankenJeep frame off reassembly

I'm gonna be cremated, I think i'll tell the wife to pour my ashes in the gas tank. I'd love to watch the new owner figure that one out.............

This one sounds pretty good. I already have the cremated part down, my buddy was going to scatter my ashes on a nice Caribbean reef, now I just need to figure that part out, onto the reef without making it being a hazard. I've got time I guess to work that part out.

I got the side windows masked off and painted the inside of the top - inside of the left gate is next. I had to leave it up lest I suffocate, and that would be bad since I’ll need the hard top upon my internment in the Jeep. Once I got the masking removed, it was too dark for pics (how many times have I said THAT in this thread???). I’ll take a couple tomorrow.

I already like it much better than the white - I got a Rustoleum Gray that actually looks darker than I thought. Probly cause it was getting dark, duh. I almost went a shade darker, but figured I’ll try this and can always hit it with a darker coat if need be - but I think this is gonna do nicely.

I tried taking a couple pics this afternoon - I’ll hafta set it up on its backside to get enough light on it to see what it really looks like, but I like it. I taped a sheet of paper up for a comparison to white.....

I didn’t paint around the hinge hardware - gotta build that back up, then I’ll hit that too.

Thanks - I’m looking forward to getting it back on the Jeep to see what it’s really gonna look like - but anything would have been better than the dirty white that was there.

Wonder if these tops are double walled across the top? I bet they are.....

Well, went ahead and threw the hard hat back on.......

Looks much nicer with the gray interior rather than the white. Not sure black would have worked either - I believe that would have been too dark. Med Gray was just right. Heck, just the fact it’s clean makes a huge difference.

Now I gotta get busy and finish the hard uppers........

Had a little more than an hour before getting darked on tonight - so I got one of the rear windows tinted. One down, two to go....

By the way - When the instructions say to wet the outer surface of the window and lay the tint against the glass and trim it to size before applying to the inner surface, don’t do it - it’s a trick. A ploy to sell more film..... And encourage foul language.

I did the other two windows today - and it was rather breezy......And I didn’t have the patience to wait..... So after I un-balled the side window tint, I have quite a few small bubbles. Still looks way better than it did....

Alrighty - I have good news....... last couple weeks I’ve gotten an occasional light whiff of antifreeze - no often, but here an there. Figured the hose connection to the heater core was leaking again - back in the spring I had a couple dribbles into the passenger floor so I tightened the hose clamps and all was good. Friday morning I noticed a patch of “fog” on the inside of the windshield pass side. Tightened the clamps a bit. Not much change. Tightened em a bit more this afternoon when I got home. Ran to Walmart a few minutes ago, and the whole windshield fogged up, and I had a small spot of coolant under the heater box drain tube.

I GET TO CHANGE A HEATER CORE!!! YAYYY.

Won’t be in till Thursday....... I’ll hafta ride to work an back on one cheek for couple days.....
