Lol what the :dung:, more hots increase thew load not the grounds

Yeah, I tried to discuss that for a couple seconds, but then remembered the old saying "never argue with a fool - people may not be able to tell the difference". So I stopped, thanked her for the advice, and kept right on "endeavoring to persevere".....

Don't have the battery in place yet, so I haven't added the battery cables yet, but the harnesses are in place. Still need to grab several loom clips so I can get the harnesses nice and straight. If I had done the wiring earlier I might have sweated the small details, but I just want it done....... for those of you that are wiring neat freaks, don't look - I played a "Good enough" card.

In getting the upper air box ready to stick in place, I wanted something between the cowl and box to help seal it...... dug out a box of HVAC cork insulation tape. Sticky as hell and pretty tough stuff. Laid it around the flange that bolts up to the underside of the cowl and punched out around the screw holes.......

Then I was messing around with the parking lights (which I will be replacing) and soldered a ground wire onto the housing to see what difference if any it'll make....

Finally got the tailgate bedlined.... I was so excited last week to get the tub done I totally forgot to do the tailgate. While I was at it I got all the spots that were a little thin.

Threw another coat in the back just for dog protection, capped the bottle, cleaned everything up, and threw everything away. Started thinkin about how to redo the grip area of the steering wheel. Still wanted to see on a vinyl or even leather cover, but that would be like work. Then I thought about filling in all the cracks with body filler, sanding, and painting, then just covering with a wrap. Then it occurred to me - bedliner. So I dug the bottle outta the trash, taped off the spokes, and brushed on a thin coat - stippled but not rough.

I figure worst case I cover with a wrap anyway. And this was MUCH easier

And here goes another Fall and no Jeep. Earlier in the year I was hoot this would be the Fall to head down the Parkway with the top off and the leaves changing. Looks like I’m not making it this year LOL They’re starting to turn and I’m not EVEN close. Guess I can pull it out into the driveway, sit in it, and stare at the Parkway......

Maybe load it on a trailer and have someone tow you? :) still wouldn't be the same I guess.

LOL - Now THAT’S an idea. Hafta be sneaky - illegal to ride in a trailer and the Parkway is federal property........ I’ll wear a disguise - I’ll slip a seat cover over me.....

I think you should just sit in it and have a beer and think how great it will be when you get to do it.

Lol that would be funny

I’ll post a pic when I do it. LOL

Don't forget the dog riding shotgun

Yeah - it's just a different nasty. Looked like a petrified alligator before, but this ain't much better. This was one of those ideas that works in your head but completely falls apart out in the air. Was worth a shot. I'll smooth it up and go back to sewing a cover on it..... I went out and checked on it this morning, and had a "what were you thinking" moments. It's good to start the day off with a laugh.

Funny thing is, it actually feels ok to hold....... but, yeah - looks like a steering wheel disguised as a dog turd.

LMAO - it sounded ok in my head. Just went kinda sideways once I typed it

I think I’ve decided how to fix it. It was horribly ugly as it was, the bedliner was a wild hair that failed, but I’m gonna go a different direction. It won’t match anything else on the Jeep, but I’ve been trying to figure out some way to get a piece of walnut in the build somewhere. Thought about the gauge surround, door panels, but couldn’t convince myself. So I think I’m gonna cut all the “grip” material off the steering wheel and replace it with laminated walnut. Fixes several issues. Now, I just gotta make it work.

It was a great description and I knew exactly what you were thinking. Used the term several times myself
