Transmission leak

Hello my 76 CJ7 is leaking huge amounts of Transmission fluid. I think it is the seals, but am unsure as to what ones I need to get. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I tried to get good angles and anything to identify what's installed.

Looks like you need some gaskets, probably some fresh oil also.

Looks like a GM Turbo 400 to me.
First-get under there with some wrenches, and make sure ALL bolts/nuts are snug to tight.
CK the t'case oil level, then tranny.

but.... don't they all leak.......... Sorry couldn't help it. Do as Lumpy says. Work a little (don't just throw money and parts at it), watch for leaks, take care of the ones you find .... clean, .... drive and watch for more leaks. It is likely that you will take care of the problems quicker than you expect.

Yeah, haven't had the time yet to play. I have the standard Transmission for it as well, I was considering putting that back in.

The fluid definitely looks is Transmission fluid and they are well known qualities with more expertise available than most manual transmissions will ever have. unless there is a case problem it's likely easy to repair. I'd look closely at the lowest part of your Transmission ., I.E. the pan. Its easy, especially in a Jeep, to pump it and punch a hole. It also could be loose. Removing it is also part of normal Transmission maintenance so it could be loose. Once you've fixed that leak and cleaned up the underside of your jeep you might find a fairly leak free jeep under there. .... probably not, but you might. If you don't have time most any Automatic Transmission shop can handle it.

You got the flywheel to go with it?
Like I said-You had better ck ALL of the fluid levels before do'n much else.
And ck all pan bolts to be sure they are tight.
In the time it took to take the pictures and post'em-You could have been under the Jeep with some wrenches and ck'n those bolts-

Yeah, I work nights and this was my long weekend. When I wake up today I will start playing

Yeah, check the pan bolts. I have been seeing oil under my CJ. Thought, "Well, it is a CJ, they all leak." While under the CJ I happened to have a 1/2" wrench in my hand while thinking about a different problem. Absent mindedly I reached up and tried the bolts on the Transfer Case cover. OMG, the bolt was barely on there. As it turned out none of the bolts were much more than finger tight. When putting it together I torqued them down, but had doubts on the torque setting, it seemed too light. Next time I'll use my good old arm strong torque wrench. So, the moral of the story is, check your pan bolts, they just might be loose.

It is a picture, but this is on top of the Transfer Case . Looks like one of the plugs fell in....

also is it regular Transmission fluid in there? It has the GM Turbo 400 automatic Transmission ...
