Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to Jeep CJs.
My dad gave me his 1984 CJ7 , I have been trying to get it up and running.
From what I can tell, It came with a straight 6 and a 5 speed Transmission .
Now it has a 1971 AMC 304 engine.
A T-150 3 speed Transmission
and a Dana 20 Transfer Case .
It has a leak which, I thought was coming from the Transfer Case pan gasket.
I changed the gasket, and it still leaks, come to find out, it is coming from the bottom bolt that bolts the Transmission to the Transfer Case .
My question is, how do you seal this bolt? the bolt hole goes right into the Transmission ! The Transmission gear oil was almost empty.
Any help would be great.

The simple answer is drain the Transmission and pull the bolt out and put sealer on the threads and put it back in. The more complex answer is pull it all apart and reseal the Transmission and xfer cases with new gaskets and put it back in.
Oh and welcome to the jeep insanity.

Thanks for the info.
Have got the Transfer Case sitting on the ground waiting for a new gasket.
Going to the parts store tomorrow to see if they have that Permatex sealer.
Hopefully, no more leak from that leak.
Then onto the next leak.

Well while you have the xfer case out, pull the leaking bolt out check to see if is through into the Transmission and not blind. The reason is if it's blind then the bolt is not the leak. If that's the case it's probably the gasket.
