What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Among other things today I learned that auto parts stores don't list anything older than 1983 in the filter book. Wal-Mart doesn't carry the S25 filter at all.

Can I post what I would liked to do today:D no really, I know this is the wrong place to post, I could probably pm someone instead. For the life of me, how do I start a new thread using tapatalk. No "new thread" option I can find, my apologies for incorrect format.

Yesterday replaced the distributor, rotor and cap but it wouldn't start. Today finished the process and got the distributor adjusted to where the timing is at least close. If I find someone with a timing light I might finish it up. The new distributor solved my problem with the vacuum advance and probably plugged up the last of my vacuum leaks. Running much better now. :D

Took it for a test drive to verify that by ear at least it is running good. Since that's the case I was able to adjust the slow idle speed lower and I think the carb mixture is set closer to what it should be now.

Noticed that my power steering return hose needs replaced so that will likely be one of the next things I replace.

used it for a farm truck, hauling fencing supplies.

Well today was a long exhausting day on the jeep. Today I started on the "team rush" upgrade for my AMC 360. Though I did not finish (I get side tracked easily) I made good progress I believe. I got the module mounted, most of the wire ran and terminated. Then the side tracking started. I was unpleased with the way my wiring harness looked and was ran for all the rest of the components. So I removed all wiring and started fresh, remove all butt connectors and bad wires and replace with new. Installed di-electric grease on all connectors. Grouped all components into their own harness and then made one large harness of the individual harnesses. So far all is looking good lets just hope all works as it should when the time comes.;). Hopefully I'll learn to post some pics tomorrow as well.

Finished putting parts on the jeep and ran it for a full 1/2 hour with no steam leaking out from where it shouldn't. Now I'm happy again.

Recently had starter rebuilt and replaced starter relay. Yesterday, started it up for really the first time and took 5 of my 8 grand kids for a ride around the block. Succeeded in not running out of gas, since my gauge apparently doesn't work. Now that was fun!!! :D

Yesterday I put a new radiator cap on, as well as a radiator overflow bottle. Now no more water mixture spilling out on the ground. Also put a temporary patch on the gas tank fuel filler line till I can get a replacement hose.

Get to drive it tonight to my son's cross country meet.

Replaced a water pump, thermostat and temp sending unit..... Not as hard as I thought it would be, but would have been MUCH easier if I hadn't kept breaking the bolts. If nothing else, there are new bolts on the front end now

Drove it to the XC meet. Also took apart the headlight switch and cleaned it out. A ton of dirt fell out of the plug. I was having problems with the lights cutting out occasionally. I think it might be fixed now. Only time will tell.

If you haven't done it. I highly recommend do the headlight relay upgrade.

So today I finished patching the fiberglass top and covered it with roll on bed liner and installed on the jeep for up coming storms. I also received a lot of parts in the mail today, so I have a lot of work to do. I got the ignition switch, tumbler and signal switch installed in the column. However something doesn't seem right. I can grab hold of the steering wheel and the whole shaft seems to move if pulled on. Any suggestions?

sounds like worn bearings. especially the bottom one.

How hard are those to replace? It is a column from an automatic if that changes anything.

You need to determine where the play is at first. If its in the column or it could be at the steering box itself. Is it a tilt column?

Yes it's a tilt. The play seems to be coming right from inside the tilt area. But staying true to this thread, today I remove the steering column. Tomorrow I beat it with a sledge  :chug:

If you haven't done it. I highly recommend do the headlight relay upgrade.

It's on my list of things to do.

I had a 68 F250 that did that a few to many times on a twisty mountain road. Come to find out the switch is a circuit breaker of sorts and would do it when overheated. Loose grounds and a camper lit up like a Christmas tree was my problem. I replaced the switch and it never happened again.
