I to compared the two grills side by side and found the two I had were slightly different where it mounted to the cross member. I don't recall what exactly it was, may have been damaged at one point, however it was minor.

Either grill will work, the front cross member is the same between the years mentioned.

Also, their selling aftermarket 76-86 grills as 72-75 grills (72-86) and come with the cut-outs for the plastic parking rings not the SS rings.

Towed the my dads old CJ from my his buddy's house to mine! It's official, I'm a CJ owner. Dad said the head gasket was done but he was still driving it before he parked it. Thinking I could maybe do an oil flush and limp her around town until I get a fresh engine for her. I also have a head gasket so, depending, I may just fix the current engine. She's been sitting for about 2 Novembers now, so the seats and top have some mildew on them. Any tips for cleaning a soft top and Bestop Trailmax tan seats? I'm excited to start digging into the ol' gal!

Ive had some good luck using Simple Green to clean stuff like that. Im not sure how it would work on a lighter color though. If you decide to keep your current AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l search for the 4.0 head swap upgrade. :chug:

Got hubs and rotors installed. Failed first attempt at bleeding brakes since I didn't know what I was doing. Think I have it now and will try tomorrow.

Awesome, simple green works for me. I've been reading about special cleaners, protectants, etc. and started getting a little worried that I'd have to order a bunch of product just to wash the thing. Any tips for the soft-door windows?

Installed new KC lites and new windshield banner. First time the CJ seen sunlight in 6 months.....its been a long winter

New License Plates without issue, woohoo!

The annual, insomnia, nail biter ritual of license and inspection. Wonderment and celebration if/when it all goes through...

The DMV was bad enough before owning a CJ.

Polished the diamond plate and used por 15 to redcoat the gas tank shield.

Started getting my Jeep ready for the summer. Changed out the seat belts that broke. Changing the heater core again. Replacing a battery, checking some electrical issues, wheel bearing and what ever else I find.

Arkansas, antique tag, no renewal, no inspection. Just drive, break, repair and have fun!!

Dug into the rear brakes. Had the rear brakes off and replaced the wheel cylinder in one side. Can't believe how easy it was. I was expecting frozen bolts and brake line fittings. Came right off and went right back on. Hopefully the other side will be as easy.

Took it for a ride yesterday to blow the cobwebs out as it was nice out. When I got back home I saw water leaking from the pump weep hole.
Spent today replacing the water pump, and putting my trail tires on for the trail ride this coming weekend.
And yes I'll post some pic's next week.:D

Installed a half soft top after removing the hard top.

Opened the hood to check for a coolant leak around the thermostat, and wound up removing the fan and pulley, alternator, A/C compressor, and draining the radiator. Saw some rust in the drained coolant, so I'll pull the radiator and get it cleaned, buy 2 shorter fan belts, test the thermostat in boiling water and get a new 180degree if it doesn't check out. Toughest part was reading the Chilton's diagram and trying to figure out where the lines marking bolt removal really led to.

Thanks Pete. I agree. Much better than the full TigerTop that was on it last year. I picked up a half hard top in January and this soft top last month. Now it looks just right.
