Installed a half soft top after removing the hard top.
I really like that top, but I take it that it is a custom job right? I would be interested in seeing how it looks from the back.

Not custom at all. It was a design by Kayline but they were bought out by STC in Denver. No longer being made though. I can take a pic of the back for you. It is a really nice top. And uses a rail system rather than snaps to secure it.

On CJ-8s from the factory, the soft tops were made by Whitco and they were half cab tops as well. Similar look but completely different framework underneath the fabric.

I will post more pics later.

***edited for some added pucs

Had a Whitco 1/2 cab for my '80 CJ5 . That was 24 years ago. Liked it a lot.

Just picked up my 74 CJ5 yesterday! I have a punch list of items that I'd like to get done before I start driving it regularly this summer. Tonight will be the first of many evenings in the garage, but the first order at hand is to pull the starter and see what is going on. I am getting a grind when starting the Jeep. It will eventually engage and start, but I'm thinking the teeth may be warn or the shaft on the starter is sticking. I'm just hoping it's not the ring gear on the flywheel!

Could be a weak battery or the starter solenoid is taking a dive. Always start with the easiest or most obvious reasons first. It'll save you a lot of headache lol

after thinking about a cold air intake and seeing prices, I had a :bang: moment. I already had one. I pulled the one off my 94 ram 1500 and reinstalled the stock one. So the jeep got.

I'm sorry I guess I just don't get it. I thought a cold air system is when you draw cold air from outside and from your pic it is still getting the hot under hood air so what do you gain?

Today I finished gusseting my frame (rusted) and installed new front spring hangar on left rear of vehicle.

old air filter was small round open style. this gets it closer to front of motor and away from exhaust manifold.

Boiled down the back tires. Trying to find a good header gasket to get rid of this exhaust leak cause by those crappy 3 peice metal ones.

Love the heat shield.

On my CJ:
Friday changed oil and filter - 20w50 Valvoline.

Saturday broke in the nice new oil on a day trip in the desert.

Sunday dumped and cleaned the coolers from Saturdays trip.

Today, drove the Jeep to work for the first time. The old girl is growing on me something fierce.

New oil pan, all new seals and no leaks. New radiator should be arriving this weekend.

removed alternator and brackets from the low position on my 1980 CJ7 AMC304. I used to have an AC compressor, but no more. With the help of an anvil and a 6 pound hammer, but no heat, I blacksmithed the brackets and mounted the alternator where the compressor used to be, above and right of the water pump housing. With only changing the curves in the OEM brackets to mostly flat, it fit right in. While ziptieing the wires in position, found a really bad connection in the 12V pos hot wire. That's for tomorrow.

I completed the installation of an Overdrive .
