What did you do to or with your CJ today?

I built tube fenders for my 84 CJ7 in getting ready for a over night trail ride to Swamp Lake.

Next is custom rear fender flares and custom roll cage with center console and paint job.

Looks good!
Did you buy the tubing in a kit or bend it your self?

I have a JD2 model 3 tube bender with a few dies so I can make the stuff myself. Besides even the kits are more money than what I have in total materials on this project. This makes my third set of tube fenders. I build my friends and son a set then got around to mine.

Drove mine to give a bid today, tomorrow i will take my daughter to school :D

:) looks like I get to drive mine to work tomorrow, since my wife's Durango saw fit to die tonight...in a Dealership parking lot...while we were test driving a '05 TJ and thinking of trading the Dodge in.. Won't get much of a trade-in now, I guess....:( :censored:

They know when you don't love'm anymore. :D

I think my jeeps steering is off it seems like every mud hole I pass
the jeep just veers off in it. :)

Got some mud on the tires, LOL.
But with 33x14.50x15 Super Swamper TSL's I have yet to need 4wd,
Either I can really drive or the tires are just that good.

I found a hole the other day it was deep enough the front bumper was pushing mud,
The tires barely had enough room to clear the tread, I was mildly concerned, but it made it out.

I did do the front ones with Krylon a few months ago and when I sideswiped a tree branch it kind of poped off....it was a strange thing.
So this time I used Acrylic Enamel and clearcoat and it lookes great...will have to see how it holds up. :chug:

I finished off installing the new ignition box, coil, plug wires. Took a bunch of pics (See my post about the UPS man). It was crappy and raining here all day anyway, good day to stay in the garage and work on the CJ!

I dropped my gas tank and started cleaning. It was quite a job! We filled it with rocks, gas, and shook like crazy. You wouldn't believe the :dung: that came out. Hopefully it will be done today. Crossing my fingers for a clean idle.....

I also started grinding/sanding the body for paint (this could take months).

Took about an 80 mile round trip to check out the nearest 4WheelDrive store. Planned on picking up some spring bushings to save the freight charge. Wrong. Seems all they stock is shiny chrome doodads. Oh, well, it was good to get out on a nice day.
Noticed that the wobble in the tilt steering seemed to be getting worse, so picked up a steering wheel puller and lock plate tool at the local NAPA. Been reading up on the fix, so thought I'd go for it.

Installed new motor mounts and started bending tube for custom rear fender flares, cut up the parts to begin building a new cage.

Been there done that. :D Anyway converted the CJ8 back to Scrambler mode with the 1/2 top and doors , tucked the exhaust up correctly and fixed a few lights that werent working.
Time for someone to kiss theirs...
