What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Tough day on the trail. 1st my winch decided to lite the wire on fire when I spool out. Then my starter died. after all the vehicles with a winch broke, and limped off the trail. I headed back in to winch out a broken XJ knowing I had a broke starter. (was parked at the trail head and had walked back in) after stalling my winch I stalled the motor, and had to get winched out backwards. (called for help) Tore the rear cross member where the bumper mounts when winching backwards. Then noticed a crack in the frame above the rear axle, and a ripped off rear shock mount (frame side) when I got home.

guess I have some work to do now though.....

RoscoDude, holy :dung: man that sounds like the mother of all bad outings, here man, have a  cold one on me.

Um Wow! A bad day on the trail is better than a good day at work? :)

Rosco, Sounds like you added some "character" to your Jeep. I've had many days like that as well, but at least you got out in one (or two) pieces! Where were you at, in Mass somewhere? It sounds like a good trail.

I messed around with the carb on the CJ last night, trying to get the floats adjusted right so it would quit running out of fuel under WOT conditions (or when I am messing around on the street). Long story short... I did such a good job I got to tow it home on a strap at 0515 this morning, making me late for work. Did I mention that I really don't like carbs right now?

Bought a Grant Steering Wheel

Hello and welcome to the site CH3NO2 :chug:

Or, can we call you nitro-methane? Possibly Nitro for short :D? You should introduce yourself in the Intorductions. If you got pictures we'd love to see those too. Again, welcome aboard.

What did I do to my Jeep today, I changed the oil.

Trashed my distributor gear while wheeling. Now I get to replace a bunch of stuff prior to next weekends trip. :(

Awww... when you go out to fix it, take your camera. I need a pucker pic. I want you to pucker up and kiss your Jeep like you would kiss that hot chick that walks by all the time flirting with you and shaking what she's got.

Kiss your Jeep like that :)

Ok, you can leave out the tongue.

I made some progress in prepping the old AMC 304 to be removed for the new 360. I removed all of the hoses, line, and electrical wires, trying to mark each one so it can hopefully be put back to the proper location one day.
I also removed the power steering pump and tbi sysytem.
Now it's all on the bottom side to go, engine mounts, tranny, and exhaust.

2BAD, you and I are on the same track... I started with this earlier tonight...
startrebuild.webp

And ended up with this...
rebuildstart.webp

getting it stripped for the spare 360, so I can try rebuilding the race engine.

What else do you guys recommend while the engine and Transmission . are out? I will be cleaning and painting the frame, welding a cracked frame area, general compartment cleaning and organizing, maybe installing Power Brakes, ect..

Little CJ5 , I think you will have yours rebuilt and racing before I get mine going! :(
I would look into the power brakes, especially with those nice big ol' shoes, and the racing. That's one of the items on my to do list.
The more I look at mine, the more that I feel that I need to do a full build, like CJ.
Part of my problem is that I never had it going, so I really don't know all of the issues, but I'm not happy with the grounding, and wiring.
At least I have a decent fiberglass body, so I only have minimal repairs needed on that, but most everything else I'm not happy with. :o

lol i can make time to tear things apart, but the funds to build it will be a while coming!
I am also working on two other jeep projects with this one, but this is the priority now to get running again.
I will be doing a lot of wiring on this one, also. Maybe even install my custom dash, finally! woohoo

You should know by now that I dont have a Jeep yet... :( (Please give me a moment to stop crying.)

So I have nothing to kiss.

Well, I didn't kiss it, but I did sit there and drink a cold one. Still waiting for the bearing for the steering column. Maybe tomorrow.
Still trying to figure out if I want to tackle the front spring bushings or have someone do it. My jackstands are too short, and I'm not real comfortable with the idea of dropping the springs with just a hi-lift jack holding that thing up.
