What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I use the Eastwood aluminum carb paint, but ran out on my last carb build so I grabbed what was in my paint cabinet Dupli-Color aluminum engine enamel.

Dude I owe you a beer in Colorado! According to the info I had found on the CJ & YJ springs the center pin should have been even. Then again I have the cheap sky jacker lift springs that I bought 14 years ago. The center pin was exactly 1" offset towards the middle of the jeep. I flipped the shim and springs around and it looks like the tire is centered. Here is an after pic doing a little garage flexing.

LOL - ask me how I knew... It will move the tires 2" towards the middle of the jeep with that 1" offset. Did it myself and even had the rear driveshaft shortened... then re lengthened... :bang:

Glad it helped - was hoping it might.

Moving right along with the AMC 304 rebuild. Started degreasing the block and discovered a tag from a rebuilder!

Wish I knew who did the rebuild. .030 over pistons, cylinders measured at .030 to .031 over. Nice! Rings measured at .050 over! Looks like a professional shop put standard rings on .030 over pistons!

Decided to pull the freeze plugs and install brass ones just to be on the safe side.
OH OH!!
I was about to pull the last plug and saw this!

I hope that this do not remove tag is not part of the same tag "do not remove under penalty of law" that we all fear so much on our pillows!

It's probably connected to wireless - will transmit its own removal. Plug cops will find you.....

I got the tailgate prepped and ready to final prime and paint

On to windshield frame prep - after that everything is ready for final sand and the good stuff...... dang I'm stoked!!

Installed the carb and new battery
100% improvement from the carb rebuild
Took the 71 for a test drive
Plenty of power and smooth idle
Yes, I'm leaving the CO sticker on the front bumper.

It worked great! I'll probably be buying a Tom Woods driveshaft soon.

Found some paracord and wrapped the steering wheel and grab bar.

The paracord did look nice. Was wondering how you tied it off without a big knot?

Instead of making a loop and pulling it through the last knot, I cut about 6" and pulled the cut line through... pulled it tight and cut it off flush. Then took a lighter and melted it in place. A brown sharpie took care of the white center cords. You melt it and then press it down with the shaft of the lighter to smooth it out. Can barely see it.

Sure looks good. May I ask, on average, how many feet of of cord do you need for this?
