Passed inspection. No issues. I know you guys understand the feeling

What a bummer you gotta go through all that every year. Virginia didn't grandfather you in? My 81 CJ is exempt from the SMOG and Safety Inspections.

Agreed. Here in Indiana we haven't had inspections in almost 40 years.

I think it varies by region - down here I have zero emissions, a same manufacture but bon original engine, and can pass inspection. Failed the last one due to a hole rusted they in my frame. That's what started this whole dang process I'm in.....

WE used to have a safety inspection but then they went to a smog test. So you can have a rolling death trap but if passes the smog test you are good to go.

Smog test hasn't made it here yet. Northern Va has it I believe, but we don't

And I just finished breaking down the half doors to get em sanded and primed........ and just realized when I bought em a couple years ago, I didn't get keys with em. Guess now I need To scrounge up a couple keys and have the cylinders re-tumbled. The fun never stops.....

Yes, Northern VA counties have the emissions testing. But the CJ and the Impala are both exempt form those tests since they are 25+ years old. But I do need safety inspections annually if I drive them regularly. To get antique plates, and not have to do the safety inspections, I could only drive Limited miles, to and from shows, to test fixes, etc.

And shum8, I failed three years in a row for holes in the frame. Patched two times, then went with the frame swap after the last one.

You plan to lock the half doors? I never bothered with keys for mine. I never lock it up. If I do, then the hooligans will just cut the windows to get in and see that there is nothing valuable in the Jeep. Hell, my CJ sits open anyway so no need to lock it.

The image is self explanatory, I could not be happier. For everybody involved with the design and execution of this decal "Thank You Very Much!"

It shows my exact feelings in response to those "Trail Tested" badges on the newer jeep like Fiats.

Love that.

Someone suggested recently to disable the inside lock button so that they could only be unlocked with a key - that way you could lock them and they couldn't be stolen...... but that would only work with the top off. With it on you would have to leave em unlocked or the top would get cut. Either way something is vulnerable.

I remember that post. It was a good thought. I am thinking about disabling the inside lack mechanism. But mainly because it is a pain. Someone riding in my Jeep locked the door as they got out one night. The next morning, I went to open it to put something in the passenger side and it was locked. Of course the driver door was open so I just reached over and unlocked it.

I have a tuffy console that locks. That is where I put anything. And I guess if someone wants my half doors, they could lift them and take them. But they are not pretty. So maybe the ugly is a theft deterrent. ;)

Mine have the threaded upper hinge pin for thread on locks..... that was my first inclination....

I've drawn up but haven't yet started building an 11ga "lock box" that will live where the Tuffy overhead console would go...... it'll be somewhat use specific, but will have some extra room for small stuff.

Glad you like it. I've already cut mine so I'm ready whenever I get paint laid down. I have another sticker I need to cut that I'm currently running on the car....... but as soon as the CJ is up and running I'll put one on it. Here it is on the car.....

That was the result of probably my greatest WTF moment I've ever had.... LOL

That would be a yes....... I was driving a 78 Bronco, coming down a hill toward a controlled intersection.... doing about 30. She walked across all lanes of traffic, from left to right. As she got to the far side of my lane, she stopped, looked me dead in the eye, and as I got to her, took 2 giants steps backwards. I centerpunched her and never had time to hit the brakes first. I locked em up, called 911, and before I could finish the call, she got up, put her phone back up to her ear, and headed on down the road. By the time the police had us all together, she refused medical treatment, admitted to being an alcoholic and heroin addict, and was charged with several offenses. None of us could figure out how it didn't kill her. My strangest day EVER. I still have the image of her head bouncing off the hood as she disappeared......

My brother has squirrels and snakes on his truck, so I figured why not...

Pretty crazy. Was the bronco ok? :)

That's what I did. Disconnect the inside lock. Didn't want someone just open and remove the doors

Sounds like a good idea when the top is off / down, but since I don't have the door key, I'll probably need to get new locks with keys...

And, yeah - the Beonxo only suffered a small dent on the front of the hood and a couple dents in the aluminum grille surround.
