What did you do to or with your CJ today?

My '84 hasn't been on the road for3 or 4 years because it wont pass the smog test. Test to rich when I had it as lean as I can so today I did a compression test on it and this is what found.

So it may be time to pull the spare engine apart that's sitting in my garage and see what kind of shape it's in.

Mtnwhlr, it might be a bad O2 sensor. You can read here on how to test one:The Three Major Players. Anyway, I failed the test twice and thats what it was.

It has a newer O2 sensor. My last 4wheel trip I noticed a lack of power. And I have done the tricked ing. that as I understand takes the computer out of play. Does those numbers look ok to you?

Actually it does, I got similar readings many years ago and it still passes Ca. smog quite well. Looking at that page I sent, it does state if the metering pins are all the way forward it does indicate a rich condition. Your rich condition could be something other than low compression.

Posi posted that a stuck EGR can cause this. I may have look into this more. I would rather not pull the head or engine if I don't have to. I would love to get it back on the road for the summer.

Not today but this last weekend I started reassembly....finally. I got the dreaded heater installed. The 4X6 oval duct I got from MTS was too short so I had to improvise with a bit of galvanised duct. The fendres, grill and pedal assembly went pretty well. Hopefully I can start the wiring this weekend.

Finally got my soft top / steel 1/2 doors / soft upper doors and front windshield all adjusted and fitting correctly. Had to get some hardware made because original full soft door hardware is not all compatible with steel 1/2 doors. Doors now closing and opening correctly

About 3-4 weeks ago. Couldn't get it working right for me this time. Gave up. On another forum I'm on, I can upload pictures without any hosting on 3rd party. Upload pictures from my iPad easily. Both sites look the same and are set up alike, but that one works. The main difference between the 2 is they got rid of Tapatalk 1 or 2 years ago because it was to intrusive and controlling

I regapped plugs. I replaced the wires. I witnessed my fuel pump fail definitively. I ordered an external e2000 fuel pump and am looking at accumulator options.

Had to work but got heads,water pump off .Not much but it was hot out in the bay.
