What is that on the side? A poorly placed cup holder?

Check out his build thread, it will explain the cup holder and all the really nice work Mike has done.

Adjusted my clutch after only 200 miles! Some dummy forgot to tighten the lock-nut.
I had a choice of speed-shifting all the way back home or crawling under it on the side of the road. Needless to say... I didn’t crawl under it until I got home.

Don't be a doubter Jeff...

Thanks OJL...!

Just got back from a 1,000 mile road trip and the cup holders worked great... one of the best things I've done.

Once I read through the reconstruction details I clearly understood. I’m still in awe! Not so misplaced after all!

Mostly finished with the cab cover... pics in my build thread.

Turned out nice.

Yes, yes it did.

Well, the daughter decided to move from Arlington down to Charlotte,NC. As luck would have it, her new apartment won’t be ready for two weeks - so all her stuff will be here tomorrow...... and the only place to put it is in the garage......... OHHH, the humanity...

Can't even imagine what is going through her mind right now... thoughts of abandonment, neglect, abuse, resentment, jealousy, and rage... after all she has given and done for you... How could you... you... you man you...!

So i am at work offshore so this didn't happen "today" but since i have purchased it...

Day I bought it (Apr 1st?)= Go to pull it off the trailer and it would not crank (WTF) guy i bought it from knew less about the jeep than i did. So he was no help. Spent 3 hours troubleshooting the fuel system, bleeding injectors and such. As dark approached the excitement on my little girls face turned to doom since i couldn't take her for a ride. "I already know what is going through the wife's head" "I told him not to buy this POS", anyways i digress. Ended up finding a fuse not making good contact and my glow plugs were not working. Needless to say, in 85 degree weather, without glow plugs the Mercedes diesel will not crank. 5 hours later i got it running and me and baby girl took it around the block. About an hour later i go to crank it to put it under the lean too and it won't crank (WTF). After i drained the battery once i realized i forgot to open the vacuum valve, so that the diesel engine would crank. So day 1 I was 7 hours into labor and thinking "what have i got myself into".

Day 2 = Finally get the wife to come take a ride, and the Electric fan wont come on (WTF) found a corroded wire going to a 5 pin relay

10 days later = Run out of Diesel, spend and hour bleeding injectors

Mayish = Added some earl. Got a oil pan gasket drip

Last week = Troubleshot fuel gauge, manage to get temp gauge working but no fuel gauge still. Installed Bestop Fold and tumble seat for the rugrat to ride in.

Thats pretty much it since conception

Once you get the PO bugs worked out, the real fun starts, driving around with a few rugrats in the back. My daughters friends always loved riding in the fun vehicle.

Unless you’re me and still trying to work out the CO bugs....... like all your coolant in the crankcase.

My intital diagnosis of water / coolant in the oil was valid but as a knee jerk reaction I neglected to consider something much more simple and far more common than a crack somewhere.
It could be from sloppy workmanship replacing a water pump. If the gasket didn’t seal properly... for a variety of reasons, water can be injected there.
I’d hate to tear down an engine, magnaflux the castings to to figure out later it was a stupid water pump / timing cover gasket.
It’s really hard to be cool when you make a rookie move like that.

Oh, man - that shot was aimed at me, not you. I just found an empty radiator and a crankcase full of a latte looking smoothie. I’m hoping mine is shoddy workmanship on an intake gasket

I looked at mine on my security cameras... it’s too hot to go out and play!
