What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I have a ways to go, hopefully done with the makeover before I leave for CO in 5 weeks. This pic is when it arrived while I was unloading the parts that came with it.

Looks great!

Yup! Has good potential too. See a winch and electric fan already huh?

Stock engine / drivetrain?

I was waiting for someone to ID that winch, really nice winch folks don't see often, great conversation piece. Figure someone here must have been around for awhile to know what it is.

It is ugly at the moment, (I posted the best angle) but it's also a sleeper.
Professionally built FI AMC 401 T-18 , ARB air lockers front and rear. 4 link rear w/quarter elliptic springs and front SOA yj springs. Tilt steering, and........intermittent wipers. :D

Is that another Co Jeep you scored?

Yes it is.

No matter how it looks I’m really liking this 3b and can’t wait to get it up running.

So, Project Desert Tan commences.

When I get to 30 mph the engine light comes on and stays on. It’s intermittent when I shut down the engine and restart no engine light. I used a jumper wire and grounded the ALDL connector and found a code 13 (02 sensor.
I check the 02 sensor and find it discounted at the plug. I plug it back in, no codes.

It’s running better but still lean. Checked feed fuel pressure and find 10 psi, still within range until I twist the throttle and drops to 9 psi. This is a problem.
Checked return and find 9psi so I have a restriction somewhere in the return like. I should have 0-4 psi.
So, if you have a restricted return line it increase your feed pressure (see where on going with this).
So without a restricted return maybe my feed fuel pressure is around 7-8 psi.

Time to drop the tank.

Found the restriction

It’s a factory plastic tank no rust, want to take a guess what it is?

Also 1 internet beer for whoever comes up with the name of the winch.

Looks like old fuel varnish with burnt umber mixed in for color. Have no idea on the winch.

Looks like a real dirty sock on the in tank pump. I don't see the winch.

Looks like the sock with Red Lead bottom paint for a wood boat. :bang:

Need a better picture of the winch to id

:chug:

I thought the position of the vertical fairlead would give it away.

Good guesses on the dirty sock, hint. After draining and washing out the tank.

Is that a type of capstan winch??

I understand your thinking because of the vertical fairlead but no. Hint, it’s a “sideways” pull.

Hickey Sidewinder, really wanted that internet beer

Correct again,

The P.O. used some red RTV to seal the 2 vent valves on top of the tank. I’m guessing he couldn’t find the grommets. I have a couple new ones on the way.

Nice score on the winch!

Sweet - never heard of them before.

Today I got all the hardware for the top installed, put the top and doors on, then adjusted the windshield.

while waiting on the top to get hot I installed new mirrors, gearshift boot and wiper blades.

I also scrubbed the bikini top so I can put some treatment on it but mother nature is not giving it a final rinse and soaking the full top so I can scrub it, how nice of her
