What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Some progress on the new 360 build for the CJ5

What do you all think?

:chug:
I think that is one good looking motor!!! Love the paint job.
I hope you make a video clip when you get it running.

Thank you - I plan to but will probably do the cam breakin first to pay attention to it.

From what I can tell, in minimal detail, i'll be running it at around 2000 - 2500 rpm fluctuations for around 20 minutes. Then I can tune a bit and get the rings broke in on the road after.

Did the LED upgrade to my dash lights yesterday. They all look good except for the white speedo lights that don't work. Guess it's time to trace the ground and get the multi-meter out. Speedo lights didn't work before hand so I am not surprised.

Well... it wasn't this.

Replaced the stock cover on my Dana 30 front diff with an upgraded cover from Dana with an integrated drain plug. I don't know what they were thinking when a drain plug was not included stock.
Next up will be replacing the cover on my AMC20 rear differential with a new one from OX.6e8120eddbf4becac7dd2a3fb97e7fc9.webpfe772f19f5854e3da4eb4ba0529359c4.webpe3e805b607430a913c726bbdf1a895c5.webp

Today I finally fixed my terrible starter / flywheel grinding.
Had to completely tear out the Transmission and tc combo for the 3rd time but its finally fixed.
Bad flywheel from luk and I also think that the replacement / aftermarket spacer plate may have been a contributor. Put the original spacer plate back in and she fires up without any problems and runs like,a dream.
I'll probably drive it everyday this week as I've missed out on lots of opportunities the last few months.

Glad you got it figured out and "back on the road again"!!
Working on these old Jeeps can be frustrating at times for sure. My motto is "aint nuthin easy". Especially when it comes to a Jeep.

Drove it

You better get some gas, or fix the gauge

I was just kidding on the gas gage. Mine works but is inaccurate. I write the gas mileage down each fill up. :)

I do the same, a full tank will show as 3/4 full but will drop down to empty when I still have 1/2 a tank.

Don’t we all? My aftermarket fuel gauge reads full just fine, but shows empty after using only 15 of the 20 gallons. And I swear I put in a sending unit for a 20 gallon tank when I did the swap.

So I keep using my notepad to write down the miles at each fill up. You never know when the sending unit will :dung: out.

Mine too, it shows full for about 5km after a fill up then goes to 1/4 tank and stays there. I am hoping it changes after I finally get around to putting in the new tank sitting on my basement.

Mine shows about 1/3 when full.
