What did you do to or with your CJ today?

It was rough and I do not want to take that thing off ever ever ever again
Just park your Jeep out in the hot sun for a few hours, it'll stretch a lot and be much easier to get on the next time.

Good advice. Also - the first several times you take the top off, make sure you put it back on before it cools off for the day. Cuts down on the yelling and cussing

It is kinda fun to make a little video now and then. Those orange cones out here have been adopted as the Official State Flower of Michigan.

The top actually took 6 hours, I did the last in the garage with some lights. It was rough and I do not want to take that thing off ever ever ever again! Honestly the hardest part was taking out all the buttons that had rusted in there from the old top so the new channel rails would fit flush.

Yep the roads really are that bumpy, that's why I don't have any kidney stones, I get the vibration treatment every day!

I know what you mean Chris. It ain't easy. About a dozen bolts going into the body rail of my CJ5 were rusted solid. When I bought the new top, I just kept the old rail, not wanting to spend the whole day drilling out those old bolts.

I think i finally got the fluctuating idle speed on my TBI worked out. It would idle anywhere between 450 to 1000 rpm on a single trip. I messed around with the vacuum lines. One line was plugged with a bolt on the end. The bolt was loose, so i replaced it with the larger one. Another vacuum line was only partially seated on the outlet, so i pushed that further in, and tightened it down. Now its consistently running around 450 - 600.

Very nice indeed...

I would have loved to leave it in the sun to stretch it a bit but Thursday was my day off and it was cloudy and I knew it was going to rain cats and dogs on Friday so it was really out of necessity this time.

Hopefully the new body will be next year so it'll stay like this until then.... or just forever. As I think about it now I should have not pushed the inside support bar into place until I had everything somewhat attached. Hindsight and all that...

Edit to add: I have to say too that this thing is darn near air tight! The seals around the doors are just like in a normal car and with that new rail system which replaces all the snaps it really does keep the warm air in there, so bravo for that! Just need to finish adjusting the upper door halves so they fit together better. That's what Sundays are for.

Nice looking top! May want to get a storage bag for the windows, so they don't get scratched up when you're not using them. Would suck to spend all that hard-earned money on a new top, only to notice scratches after a few months. Smittybilt makes one that works great for my top.

Pocked up the motor and tranny that will be going into the Scrambler.

Doesn't the Scrambler have the front pumpkin on the passenger side?

Correct. That Transfer Case is coming off. I plan to use my Dana 300 that I just installed that has a 4:1 ratio and twin sticks. I installed that a week before the motor crapped out on me. So that t case with a clocking ring on the rear of this aw4.

That will be a nice combo, as hot as my 360 is I kinda wish I went 4.0

While out wheeling Saturday a Barred Owl flew across my path and landed on a nearby tree.

Now THATS cool! I haven’t seen a Barred owl in a while.....

We had a few Great Horned owls move into the neighborhood a couple years ago - this past Spring a pair of young hung out in the trees at the back of my dad’s yard -
