What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Yea, its going a little slow right now. I'm playing single dad while the wife is overseas, so I don't get as much time to work on it as I'd like. That undercoating is taking a long time to get up, and I am going to be doing a wheelhouse notch as well while its tore down.
The good part is, the cash flow will be going up very soon so I can work on getting the parts I need for it. :)

Well, after I finished rebuilding my front axle from the u-joint out, I took it down to the local garage and had the gear oil chnged in my Transmission and Transfer Case . It's a good thing too.

today i custom built a wiring harness for the front turn signals, as the original one was butched beyond belief. not that the new one looks factory, but i made a schematic so i know exactly how it works. and i fixed my blower motor. next is the dash lights.

I retired my J-10 last weekend. so I pulled the head (4.0) header and intake to put on the CJ5 , makes sense so far. took the head in to machine shop for 3 angle valves and a check up and just found that the #6 exhaust area is cracked. bummer! the head was one I got from the shop in Fla. and I had put about AMC 150 - 175K miles on it so I guess I got my moneys worth.
So I think I will go to the grave yard on Saturday and pick up a head, thank god for" cash for clunkers" and go the fill the holes with epoxy route.
I have got a line on some 1000 and 2000 degree epoxy that I may try. I don't think it will be all that much better than JBweld but It is something I want to look into.

Bummer! Sorry to hear about that, but as you said, you got a whole lot of miles out of it. What casting number was your old 4.0 head? I've heard of a cracking problem between the #3 and #4 chambers of the mid 1999-2003 0331 head, but I haven't heard of a lot of problems with other casting numbers. Hopefully you can find a good 1991 to 1995 7120 head or maybe a 1996-1999 0630 head as long as it has the hole at the rear for the temp sender.

Good Luck! :D

And a little update on mine. The JB Weld is still doing its job just fine with over 8k miles and no leaks from the plugged extra water ports!

Hooked up my Jumping Jack Camp Trailer and went for a spin.
Tows real nice. Weighs in at just under 1300 lbs with all the stuff in it.

I havent got to do anything to my CJ since I came up to CT for work in December. The job is winding down now and I have a truck load of new parts to put on it when I get home next month.

I replaced the after market oil pressure gage with an OEM gage I got from a local four wheel drive coustom shop and replaced the pressure switch. Used up a can of degreaser underneath to clean it up alittle bit before I opne it up fot the timing chan and pan gaskets. Took the air cleaner off, cleaned it up and painted it.

I wish you luck on your factory gage, I never trusted the oil pressure gage on even a showroom new CJ's.
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just saying to be careful.
I remember firing up my trusty CJ only to see the oil pressure gage laying dormant, but a couple of raps of the knuckles & it would jump back to life.
I just couldn't feel comfortable enough to trust it.
I have a lot more faith in my Autometer Pro-Comp oil pressure gage. ;)

New Bump Stops!

I installed longer bump stops all around.
Actually the aftermarket bump stops I had up front were a little to short so I moved them to the rear. I have new bump stops for the front.

Fixed a couple of shorts in the 30 yr. old wiring. May be time for some new stuff. Changed oil. Best part found me some trails not far from the house. :chug:

started workin on the rust spots, got my new body panels in! as soon as this rain lets up ill start weldin the panels in. then to decide on a color....was thinkin about dodge orange, like the old chargers?

Hay Giantsfan, The best looking 69 charger was not orange!

So far I have had no issues with it, other than I need to find a light socket for it. The previous owner cut the old one off.

Well I have come to a somewhat painful but very joyful decision on the future of my CJ7 I will have her road worthy in less than 2 years :D just not at all finished. I am going to throw the seats in it leave it primered narrow the rear, leave it Spring under and reinstall the Dana 30 front, so it will keep the 3.23 gears and factory suregrip rear, well I ordered the stainless hood kit ,front poly shackle bushings and new chrome taillights yesterday re assembly begins this weekend, I think im starting with that new Painless wire harness I bought to that new dash and gauges I have in it :chug:

i used mine to pull my broken down 2005 f150 into the garage. good thing i have a big garage. a 7 mile tow from aaa cost me 12 bucks. not bad. the part to fix my f150, 130 bucks. go figure:pissed:

Fixed a dam oil leak. Changed out the valve cover gasket. Found out why the old one leaked so bad. Gaskets work better if they are covering something.

Giantsfan. yes, I still have the old charger. Shes out back under tarps awaiting the day when I get around to cleaning up the rusty fenders, give her a new paint job and rebuild the motor and all the other stuff I want to do, like front disk brakes, five speed tranny ect. I blew a oil seal several years back, so I park it until I could fix it Properly. Now if I would stop getting sidetracked with jeeps, snowmobiles, and boats ect. I would probably have her running again. My boys are seriously getting after me to get her running again so, after I get the CJ5 running like i want the charger is next on the list.
