Pulled mine down for a timing chain. It's a wonder it hacn't jump time yet. Pulled the oil pan for a good cleaning and paint, rebuilt the oil pump and replace the fuel pump while I was at it.

did a set of ball joints and wheel bearings and seals. what a pain in the bum.

put a grease fitting in the new lower ball joint that i broke yesterday. then i got my best top seat mounted to the seat bracket, but the bruins game came on so i left it that way.

Pulled the intake off, I believe thats where my problem with 2 oil fouled sparkplugs is comming from. The intake gasket chose to rip right where i thought a leak would be, so theres no inspecting it now.:(
I have to mow grass now  but I'll get back on the job later tonight or after work this week and let you know how it turned out.:D

I started out looking for an m38a1 or early CJ5 . I now have 3 cj's and a yj but the short nose has proved elusive.

When I get my Willys, I'll have one of each.
A Willys, a Kaiser, a AMC & a Chrysler.

My buddy Jimmy had an old WWII or Korea era flat fender with no engine, just sitting around taking up space at his junk yard last year. I wonder if he still has it?

My CJ5 has moved into daily driver duty. A couple of weeks ago on the way to Yosemite, the ICM took a dive. Coincidence or not, the idle started becoming erratic and it would stall (especially when cold) like it wasn't getting enough air or fuel -- the vacuum was erratic but I couldn't find any leaks. After 25 miles of trails last weekend, the problem was increasing. I picked up new fuel and air filters today. This is the first time since I got the Jeep (2 years ago) that the fuel filter has been replaced, and I discovered that the filter was installed upside down (return line port was going to carb). With the new filters and a liberal spraying of carb cleaner, the idle has improved and the throttle response is dramatically better too. Hooray for $13 fixes!

Jeeps been down for the last week.:( I ordered in some headers last week, so I tore out the old smashed exhaust system and installed the new headers and a pair of 24 inch glass packs with 2 inch pipes. WOW!!!, that woke up the old AMC 304 !!!:D Before 3500 RPM was about it 4 grand if I really pushed. Now she will turn 5K without trying very hard at all. Can't wait to get her off road and tear up some dirt.

Took my Dad for a ride in his Scrambler, best Fathers Day present I could've gotten him as far as he was concerned :)
