What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I finally fixed my vapour lock problem by installing an electric fuel pump.
I gota say I was very reluctant to do it. I tried every other "fix".
The reason I didn't want to go electric was simplicity. I like mechanical pumps because if the engine is rotating it is activating the pump.
If I have problems with the electrical pump it could be countless issues: bad pump motor, bad relay, bad fuse, bad wire and of course a bad ground. What CJ does not have lights or gauges that don't work or some other electrical problem?
It used to be my engine would die every time the engine got hot. Not any more. Climbing the mountains today my AMC 304 got hotter than it has been in a long time and it kept running.
Now for the next problem: a hot engine. My fan clutch is bad. That's the first thing to replace. I sure hope I don't need a new radiator. :o

.

Adjusted the rear brakes, and replaced the following fluids:

Front and rear diff's

Transfer Case - Dana 300

Transmission - NV4500

Radiator

Below is a pic of my '7 along with an abandoned Willys, which was taken on the way home from the "All Breeds Jeep show".

Got my exhaust patched up, got the new motor timed, and cruised about 40 miles. Got home and discovered a Transmission leak and broken u-joint :(

started to re assemble the jeep after paint and messed up a small spot on the fender. looks like i need to re tape and re spray. ugghhh.

procrastinated on pulling the tranny. going to wait til this evening, found some one who will do it for AMC 150 if I supply the rebuild kit.

Picked up a set (4) of used 35" Mickey Thompson claws on beadlocks.:)
Also picked up a set of high streer knuckles.

Installed Hydraulic clutch system on my 66 CJ5 .

nothing. i need to wetsand the beast, but im kinda scared as i screwed up the paint on the hood, and had to re spray. any tips?

Mounted the 35" claws I bought last weekend. Now I just need to get out and test them out to see how much body trimming I need to do before we go to Harlan Ky. next month.

Ok, I re-installed the MSD ignition system. (More props and much love to MSD. They replaced my unit for free. Seems it was "carbonized", not exactly certain what that means.) Nonetheless, massive praise to the folks at MSD. I am super impressed.
With the re-install, dressed all the wires and the connections so that in a pinch I can re-hook up the OEM ignition system. (Don't know where I read that exactly, but I know it was here. Suggestion: always keep the OEM ignition system intact. You never know when the MSD may give oust.)
The Wisner shackles are in place. Took some tweakage, and I am still wondering whether I should loosen the u-bolts to allow the leaf spring to find their more appropriate alignment. It took some "leverage" to get them to line up with the new shackle sets.
A great day and great day to be a CJ Owner

Took a couple pix of it with the new to me tires and beadlocks.

Looks nice OldDog!:chug:
Do you have a way to air up your tires?

Dave, I've got a 10# co2 bottle that I've been using for a few years.
Drove it up on a stump (no big rocks around) today, looks like I'm going to have to trim in the front and rear both. Not a lot but some, but I expected that (in the rear)since my 33's were so close to rubbing.

Installed a new starter, swapped the feeder cable and loosened all the bolts for the inch body lift. (No frozen or broken bolts:chug:)

I installed a new Auto Meter Fuel gauge and I fixed my parking brake indicator light (it was missing 12 volts).
I also cut off the roll bar padding that the PO installed. I found the padding was holding in water that was causing my roll bar to rust.

Dakoda wanted to take the kids wheel-en. Sorry girl I'm driving!!!

A friend took me out to do some real rock crawling today. I just revised my priorities list. LoMax gears are a must. I was debating whether or not i really wanted that low of gearing but after following him around over boulders bigger then my two story house and almost as steep. LoMax and a OX locker in the front are now high on the list. The little JC5 blew me away again:D
