What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Replaced clutch and found that po didn't put in two bolts from bellhousing to motor:censored: of course they are the two which are hard to reach and get to. Replaced the u-joints while I was under there. Should be good to go for a while.:)

Raised my front shock mounts 4". On 70's CJ's the shocks mount to the spring plates. That low the brake caliper was hitting the shock body and bending the rod and denting the body. I have to change shocks once, maybe twice a year, getting expensive. Bought some lower brackets from M.O.R.E and some 80's CJ upper brackets from 4 wheeler supply in Phoenix. These upper brackets are 4" taller than my stock brackets. Now at full stuff and full turning there should be about 2" of clearance. I will know for sure this next weekend. Installed Rancho RS9000 xl shocks, too.

finished tie rod flip..

broke apart quadra-trac Transfer Case to put new gaskets in it..However I cant put it back together yet because 4wheel parts.com (beginning to hate them) messed up the gasket set order TWICE....

taking out PS gearbox this afternoon to do a J20 swap next week.

Got my new all aluminum Be Cool radiator and FlowKooler water pump! will install this weekend.

Tell me how it worked out....Running very cool now?
Do you think the "above stock" water pump makes a difference?

I used Ford shock mounts. Its a common mod. Check out this link:
Fordshockmt
EDIT: they offer more travel if you get longer shocks. Or you can shorten them but then they need to be welded on. That's what I did.

Or use the later model shock mounts that would bolt on, you would still need longer shocks...

Tried to wire up wiper motor(previous owner molested all wiring) today on the '78 CJ5 . He had cut the 3 wires off about 4-5 inches from the wiper motor. In the process off patching the wires, one wire stripped completely. Now, it's new motor time. Anyone replaced one? Will I only need to take the dash pad off to replace the motor?

Installed PS gearbox in my 79 CJ7 ...
Got a reman for a 76 J20...
Bolted up awesome...

Yes.
And you will have to lower the windshield. There are screws under the windshield frame that hold on the padded dash.

Found my front-upper shock mounts on Ebay...from an earlier willy's and will work great...2ea. to my door for $21.00.
Yesturday I sandblasted the frame outside my home shop for $8.00 worth of sand...today I will be cabinet blasting engine mounts and cutting rusted spring hangers(all 4) from the front and rear...the rest of the day I will be surfing the web for suitable replacments.

Started the new crossmember and skid plate project (it's gona take awhile). I'm going to clock the Transfer Case up some while I'm at it, so I drilled some new holes in my Novac 350/300 adapter.
