Hey kick thanks. There is a guy over in corona ca. that custom makes front and rear bumpers mainly for jeeps. Nice quality and lots of options. He advertises on craigs list in the inland empire section goes by the name the TheDirtworx there. You can see his postings there. I dont know if he ships.

i might get one of those rear bumpers. good price

drove it about 20 miles to the muffler/exhaust shop with only exhaust manifolds on it...Kept it about 35 mph...

BOY WAS IT LOUD.!!

Had to drive though crack town to get there.... Guess I attracted some attention in the process...!! HEHE

The cool part was that it has been a year since I drove it.... Had a cool CD in the player from a year ago that brought me back in time to last year.... Its GOOD to have it back on the road again!

.

I repainted the old white spoke rims and put on some new tires today.

Meh, IMO - white would've looked a lot better.

Why red?

I fixed an overheat problem!
It turns out a bad timing belt tensioner was causing my engine to boil over.

Oops! Wrong web site! I should have posted that on SubaruOutback.org.

On a related note, have I mentioned lately how much I hate working on foreign cars. And how much I like working on American made cars, especially older American cars. They are so much more logical and easier to work on.
:D

YEAH!!! I finally have an exhaust system on my CJ that is worth a darn!!

No more headers!!! Back to cast iron manifolds..!!

But I wanna know who the funny guy is that put marbles in my crankcase!!!

Just kidding... But it sure sounds like there is, with all the bearing knocking going on...Now that I can actually "hear" my engine, it sounds like it is time to start putting the pieces together for an engine build.

:D classic

I finally got around to starting the Jeep last weekend been about three months, summer in Texas was a bit warm this year and it kind of made me lazy.
Fired up no problem with new head, header and MC2100 carb. and I finished the new clutch linkage.
WOW I think I am on a roll here.:D

If the wifes outback starts over heating I'll now know what to check. :chug:

It's about time you stoped laying around in the sun and paid attention to your cj.

Finally started it up the other day.

I dreamed I was out in my CJ, somewhere offroad, crawling through the woods, then I crossed a stream, stopped and went fly fishing... Merry Christmas everyone!!

Sand blasted and primed about 2/3 of the frame...wire wheeled the rear axle...and worried about being to be able to put it all back together when Im done cleaning everything

I started installing new overhead lights in the shop so I can pull the motor out of the 69.

My slightly modified 360 V8 Air breather on my new MC2100. Can you tell it is an inch and a half smaller in diameter? I had to shrink it to clear the master cylinder. Now to build a "cook stove " for the header so I can take advantage of the TAC.

Alloy USA one piece axle upgrade. Rear brakes replace and 31" Cooper STTs installed.

Installed the Omix twin stick kit I got for Christmas

Started the teardown on my axles today, replacing all bearings and seals on tube, carriers and pinions...looks as though this may have never been done before...appears that original parts are still in there from 1974...?!
Gonna have "fun" cleaning up and blasting the axle an iff housings tomorrow before rebuilding.
later, Ed

Sunny and 65 degrees, took the top off and drove it! Not far and not long, but I drove it!!!!!:):):) It was a GREAT day!!!!

I removed an Autometer 3315 fuel gauge
3315.webp
and installed an Autometer 3810 fuel gauge.
autometer-gs-fuel-level-gauge.jpg

My original gauge was marked in 1/4 tank increments and the new gauge is marked in 1/16 tank increments. Plus the new gauge is programmable. MUCH more accurate.

1/4 tank increments would be accurate enough IF I could trust those marking. After I calibrate my new gauge it will be more accurate than necessary. (is it really possible to have too much accuracy?)

My odd shaped, oversized tank is much of the reason for much of the inaccuracy. I still had almost half a tank when it said empty.

I threw my electrical meter across the garage today in frustration while trying to diagnose an ignition issue.... AARG!!!!
