Boy, that looks like an almost twin to the one I owned when I lived in Las Vegas! Good find and we can't wait to see what you do with it!

Put new tires on. Took off 31 x 10.50 x 15's and put on a set of new Wrangler SilentArmor's 235/75 R15's. Took the wife for a ride. Ran out of gas 3 miles from home. We were headed to the gas station. It's the coldest day in Indiana in 3 years. We tried hitchhiking. No one picked us up. Called a local garage and got road service. Guess it's time to fix the gas gauge.

I like the new tires. My speedometer is more accurate and I have power in 4th gear.

Conquered the day today. Broke out the grinder and grinded all of the rust from the inside of the tub (very little by the way). Primed and painted. Now that’s ready for the carpet. Gonna put a low grade padding in. Debating carpet kit that is fabed to fit, or just do it by hand, like everything else I have been doing lately. Think I have decided to go with the old school snaps so that I can quickly remove and replace the carpet for muddy wash outs. Figured out the winch. That was less of a nightmare than I thought it was going to be. Now I am going to hook it up to a remote switch, as well as in the cab switch. Figured out that I have a piece of battery and need to invest in something a little beefier. Actually going to eventually run a dual battery setup to run the power inverter. Took of all of the vacuum hose that was plugged into the air intake just to see what would happen…..Not really sure what I am doing here, but where I live we have no emissions checks…Sounds like it is running stronger. Cant test it yet, no tags, however research is on the way. Took off the steering wheel and removed dash…..End of day…..Tomorrow , check out damage behind the dash and beers….

I rebuilt the carb. I have never seen so much /sand/sludge in a carb before. Pretty unreal! I've only had it for a little over a week so I'm going through the parts that need attention the most first.

Well boys, and hopefully womem:drool: after waiting and waiting she has finally arrived safe and sound. She even had the trailer all to herself. She made the journey all the way from Southern California to Southern Utah today. Now time to get to striping her down. After pulling seats and a bunch of other stuff, can't see much rust, but lots of dirt, (fingers crossed). Work in progress. Will keep posted.

Looks like a great Jeep to start out with! As much as I'm not a fan of California, at least their cars aren't as prone to cancer out.....

You work fast like me! I gotta respect that!

As for carpet, I would strongly suggest skipping it all together and going with bedliner if you plan to really use it like a Jeep. You can pay a shop to do spray on, or you could just buy one of the many quality do it yourself kits that brush or roll on and look great! You can get it in pretty much any color you could want, it's an awesome rust preventer, and it's also good for sound deadening. Then just throw in a pair of thick floor mats for comfort. I had carpet in both of my previous CJ's and I went with a do it yourself bedliner kit on my present one and I love it! I'll never go back to carpet in any vehicle I use off road again.

I didn't do it today, but Sunday I installed a JB Stainless Twin Stick Shifter for my Dana 20 Transfer Case . It was really easy to install and adjust. Besides the usual 2 wheel high, 4 wheel high, neutral, and 4 wheel low, I now have 2 wheel low and the option of front wheel high and low drive only, if I choose to remove the interlock pills. That could come in very handy if I break something in the rear drive train out on the trail because I might be able to just driver her home on front axle power! The best part is I'll no longer have to fight like crazy to get her in and out of 4wd with the crappy sloppy stock shifter!

Not bad for $140 delivered and a couple hours of my labor!

Full poly bushing set on the CJ8 ...springs, sway bar, engine, tranny...the works! Unfortunately I had to farm the job out to a local shop as 26 years of corrosion/inertia exceeded my poor toolbox and garage.

Definitely tightened and smoothed out the ride. Now for an alignment to counter the lack of steering slop.

Just my experience. It does look cool. My Dana 300 won't drop into 4 high until I engage the rear, then front, I haven't tried disengaging the rear axle, to see if It will give me front high. Perhaps that an interlock pills issue.

Sometimes people are able to use front wheel only without removing the interlock pills, but only with really worn out sloppy transfer cases. Mine seems pretty tight, and the interlock pills prevent me from shifting the right side shifter into front high or low unless I already have the rear in high or low respectively. Removing the interlock pills allows you to shift the front whether or not the rear is already in the range you're wanting to put the front in. It's a safety feature to keep dumb arses from putting the front in one range, high or low, while having the rear on the other range which would create huge stress on the u-joints, driveshafts and axles. If/When I remove mine, I plan to watch really close to make sure any passenger doesn't accidentally kick the front end shifter. I would also only use front wheel drive by itself gently to get home if I was having a mechanical problem with the rears drive line. I don't really see any other reason why anyone would need front wheel only in a Jeep.

Got my 77 CJ smogged and will complete the registration tomorrow. I also hooked up the windshield wipers, motor and got them running. All in all a great day.

Got the exhaust replaced finally. Found out that part of the problem with it leaking at the manifold flange is that the pipe was actually split there on both sides. Nice to have a decent exhaust on it again.

Also fixed the horn today as the ground wasn't working well (fiberglass tub)

Picked up a new windshield frame from Collins bros this morning. swapped everything over and put it on. I did a little bit of paint touch up and need to wait for it to dry before I put the gasket on the bottom. I have been playing with the intermittent wiper controller that is supposed to go with the tilt column and I think I have found why it doesn't work, the new parts for the PC board should be here soon. Keeping fingers crossed. I have not been able to find a new one and if one does turn up it is going to be close th $100, way too much for $10 worth of parts.
I did some work on my "high lift" jack this afternoon. I have had it forever and hated it from the first time I used it. The biggest problem was to flip the up and down lever I had to hit it with the lug wrench to move it to the down position. Looking at the mechanism it is obvious that as castings go, it is a piece of . Did a bit of polishing and tuning with a die grinder and the belt sander and I can flip the lever with a decent ammount of thumb pressure. Hosing it out with brake cleaner and a shot or two of 3 in 1 oil helped too.

Put some exaust headers one (ran it for a while pissing off the neighbors ) and then some old mufflers on...

Put full top on for first time (pain in tha ***)

Ran around all over looking for the flange for the collector... Wanted to weld flange onto different set of mufflers, but couldn't find anyone who had it. Not even muffler shops would sell em to me....

Charged the battery to try and get this thing fired up after my propane conversion. Wouldnt pull fuel over to the mixer so I had to do a bunch of research and find out how some of my components actually work

Discovered I need a vacuum line to the vapor lockoff to activate fuel to the vaporizer. Still need to bolt down my tank brackets, then Im pulling the gas tank out...

Pulled a 4.0 head off a 1995 Cherokee so I can do the 4.0 head swap for my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I also ordered a new exhaust manifold for the swap. Now I just need to find an intake.

I also just replaced my less than reliable nearly new electronic oil pressure gauge with a new mechanical one.

Tore out Reverse about 3 weeks ago getting out of a snow bank. It was on its way out anyway. So I dropped the tranny and ordered the reverse slider and 1st & 2nd gear synchronizer assembly. While it was down I installed the ox locker and moser one piece axle set in the rear end. I was going to wait until spring to do that. Oh well, I got it all back together today and took it for a test drive. Everything works great. Now on to the exhaust, It has met to many hard objects and is rather restive in spots.
