Now that's a skid plate. From here it looks like ~1/4" or 3/8" steel. Impressive and very heavy.

It's definitely beefy and defiantly heavy! I can't wait to try to raise it up to mount it :). It's a Four X Doctor product and made well.

3/16" strong enough.

I saw that J truck on C/L a couple of days ago. Is it in as good shape as it looks?

Late model J with a grill re-do. Looks to be in good shape, personally I prefer J-trucks with a brow.

I like the arrow antenna

That definitely looks like the stuff. I'd buy it myself but after sitting in it it obvious that jeep designers didn't think anyone over 6' tall would want one. :)

J trucks should've had the 360 or 401 as the only engine option. Why they put a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in it is beyond me. But of course this is AMC we're talking about. :) The 6 cyl kills it for me. Still a nice truck though.

"The AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l cu in (AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l L) I6 engine was introduced in 1972 and offered through 1988. The engine produced 112 hp (84 kW; 114 PS) and 210 lb·ft (285 N·m) of toque."

Oh I know they came with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Just in my opinion they shouldn't have. While the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l is fine for most Jeeps it's nowhere near a truck engine.

Not actually trying to be contrary.
There are a lot of Chevy's with 250 6's in trucks that haul and work everyday. Not as many as there once was. But in the '50s, 60's and 70's more than likely most farm trucks had 6's in them. True they weren't fast, but they had the right kind of grunt.

Totally agree with Hedgehog! The excellent low end torque of a I6 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l is perfect for that truck. Were not talking about a F150 extended cab with dually's pulling horse trailers all day. It's just a stock unlifted J10. Why on earth would you ever need a V8?

Installed a Bergeson lower steering shaft. Nice product, well built, easy to install.
