Greased my new u-joints. And while at it, I greased the tie rod ends. One still had some and would not accept much. The other took way more than I thought it would.

Well done.
Next time you have the cover off you may want to replace those torx fasteners with hex head cap fasteners.

Replaced the factory two piece axle with a one piece, welded the tubes, installed a truss over the AMC 20, replaced the carrier bearings, shimmed the axle for a better pinion angle. In short, I feel much better about my a## end.

What lift and shim angle did you go with?

Thanks guys, Those Torx heads came off and went back in easily. Lucky me I guess. I have thought about changing but I think I'll wait until I replace the diff cover. I've been eyeballing the OX. I had the 4" lift already but had a slight vibration starting to develop. I looked over the U joints and gave the drive shaft a good look too but didn't see anything standing out. That is what led me to go all out and fix the rear end the way I wanted it to be. After all of the above the last thing done was to slide a 4 degree shim into the mix. It feels a ton more solid and the vibration is gone. Nothing like new parts on an old frame!

Coat those bolt threads with copper anti-seize so you CAN remove them again. ;)

So is the truss just welded to the tubes or also welded in the center to the pumpkin housing? Which manufacturer for the truss? Thanks

Hey Belizian, welded just to the tubes, not the diff, and the manufacturer is searchers4wd.com They make them for several different rear ends and come to you as either a flat cut out that you put together and weld, or they will ship welded for $80.00 more. They have a you tube vid to show you how to put the cut out together if you go that route.

I got my NV4500 finished this morning.... on to getting a bell housing.

That is a healthy hunk of metal. Just as I narrow my to do list, I'm shown that I need to add a replacement for the T-5 . It never seems to end! Maybe if I bundle that one I won't get yelled at haha.
