What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Welded some brackets on my roll cage to mount my CB. Stupid flux core :dung: pops so much. Had a piece land in the seat I was sitting in and did a number on my leg. Ran the wires for the CB and a Blue Sea dual USB charging port for my cell phone. Need to get a proper power distribution block.

Hedge, is that can plastic? I have had conventional plastic cans leak. Not sure if you want to write that off as one that got through quality control. I have a couple of steel Blitz cans that are many years old with no leaks yet but do replace the cap gaskets every now and then.

Nope, mine is a one of the high quality steel Wavian cans. Bought a nice little green 10 liter can to replace the 20 liter can today. The 10 fits the holder wonderfully, it's nice and short while being easier to handle. Unfortunately it is the very same price as the 20.

I did find out something interesting though. Wavian has a 2 year guarantee. Maybe I'll get a new can.

While I prefer a steel can, the plastic military cans have a great reputation for toughness. Even more interesting, according to the seller (I also got a plastic water can), a civilian can't legally buy the modern plastic military Jerry cans. Why????????? Who knows!

Well here goes ..I've had a decent crack at it this weekend
Alternator in.
Started pulling Transfer Case apart ... unsealed gaskets everywhere.. distorted Transfer Case cover plate ..
roller bearings worn and forcing cones worn.. so badly on one that checking sideways play the cage fell off and all the conical rollers fell out .. parts order to replace them

So to sum up .. shafts out handbrake drum off ..speedo housing off .. holes opened in Transfer Case .. parts gears and pieces littered under the jeep in spercific order and I have made a song.

Bought a jeep... and it leaks .. dribbles everywhere ..oil seals bugger and bearings showing heaps of wear ...lol

When repairing a mess like that you absolutely know you've done a good thing. There are few things worse than doing a job like the one you are engaged in not knowing if you did any good at all. You know without a doubt that the work was necessary.

Yeap very important job .. I've decided to pull all the seals that the previous owner has changed .. he didn't clean up every surface so it all leaks..
checked all the gears and splines they have a tiny amount of wear but it's not bad and well within tolerances.
Considering the state of the roller bearings I'm surprised more wear and damage wasn't done

Lowered the Transmission in yesterday, through the engine bay rather than having to tip the Jeep over trying to make enough clearance for the T-18 and Transmission jack. Hope to get the engine in today.

PO maybe thought that was a great place to hang a mirror?

I was thinking water inlet, so years from now it will rust and virtually weld itself to the tub...? No?

Wheel bearing replacement for the 5th time. Hopefully I bent the washer well enough that the inner nut will stop loosening

LOL - While it will serve that purpose very well, both windshield frames had the same holes and plugs..... didn't look homemade......

I think I know what them holes are for .. you stick a rod between the to hang a privacy curtain while getting down in the back seat lol

Or maybe 007s right .. it's a water jacket to run hot water through to defrost the windscreen which will rust to the tub

Gettin down in the back seat of a CJ......... LOL. Maybe for a couple midgets.......

Looks 1/4"?
What was your process of matching the frame threaded holes to your skid plate holes? I know folks use different methods just curious as to yours.
