So how did you get that busted bolt out anyway, Posi? was it a simple unscrew or did you have to perform magic?
I got lucky on this one, there was enough sticking out. I used heat until it was red hot then removed the stud with a vise grip. When I'm not so lucky and there isn't anything sticking out I'll dish a washer, weld it on the stud, then weld a nut on the washer.

Now, THATS a nugget worth remembering..... I know I’m late to the party, but that’s a great solution!!

I really want to go to Colorado this year so I have been working on my rear disc conversion , lol nothing is the same size, I thought I was going to have to put my rotors on the rear of the axle flange so I ordered them with screw in studs..... surprise surprise Moser made the flanges so that the rotor slid right over how ever the hub center register is only 3.5 and the rotor is 3.75 so I can’t get it centered with out a spacer. Well I figured out that Moser actually pressed a spacer on the axle flange and it’s real hub dimension is 2.75 inches so I’m working on a spacer that will center the rotor and the wheel which is AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inches and I have a slug of stainless to work with which is hard and slow to mill... I’m a newb with Limited skills tools and access to a really old lathe

Found a craigslist add for a AMC 360 long block with 110K miles running great when pulled. Came with 1 blown GM Turbo 400 tranny and another questionable condition, and a recently refurbished qt Transfer Case - all for $400!

So of course I jumped on it and figured I'd sell everything else besides the 360 since I didn't want any of it, and I'd be out close to even... Then I'd strip the running 360 down and build it back fresh and the way I wanted slowly...

Sweet deal - all good right?

Well, we got there and the 360 was actually a AMC 304 ... BIG numbers stamped on the side... Dude offered to drop it $100 for me (so $300 for all that) and I was tempted, but I've already got a AMC 304 if I just want to build one...

I'd like a nice clean 360 to slowly build how I want it and take my time, then do a weekend swap.

So back on the chase... Knew it was too good to be true, and 20 minutes away from my shop lol

Man that’s a bummer

found another one (360) - not as sweet of a deal, but sounds promising. Heading over after work to check it out. May have a new project soon...

Advertised as a 71 AMC 360 engine.

Missing flywheel, head bolts, and intake / exhaust...

$400.

Looking at a few goodies for it and I'm around $1300.00 in parts for it already. Not including hot tanking or professional bottom assembly... Oh well - jump in swimming right?

:chug:

71, more power then later 360’s. 71 came with 285 HP (w/4bb) compared to the later 130/160HP engines. If it’s missing the intake I’m assuming the 4 bb is long gone.

Good on you! :chug:

Sweet
