Nice photos!

Thanks

Looks like everyone had a blast. Mighty hard to beat that scenery :D

Here's some pictures I took on my Black Bear trip (same day as IO and Busa). Just to give some more perspective...

This one is of the guy in front of us walking the steps before driving them...

Here is one of him heading down...

Here's one of US heading down...

Here's a look back, circled is where the off-cambered steps are... DO NOT BE FOOLED, JUST RIGHT OF THE LOWER PORTION OF THE TRAIL IS A SEVERAL HUNDRED FOOT DROP OFF - you fall off the "steps" you fall off the mountain...

This next one is on Imogene, looking back east at the Red Mountains - circled is a portion of the Corckscrew Gulch trail...

Here is another view of the Imogene trail (seen on right) as you get below the timberline...

I am guessing it has to do with height.

^ ^ ^ yes, what's different about those Jeeps? ^ ^ ^

Koda in a marmot hole.

My dog, Koda, chased a Marmot down it's hole and thought he could dig him out.

EDIT: for you flatlanders, a marmot is like a groundhog but found only in the mountains.

Winch still looks good!! Wow, what was it? a wrangler?

It was a TJ. You can tell by the turn signal that was on the front fender.

Jeez... I think I see a couple lug nuts that are still good...

Here's a few more pictures I took.
This is shot near Mineral Point on Lower Engineer Pass trail.
day1-016.jpg

Then the next day we headed for Black Bear Pass. This next shot was after the rough section but before the high switchbacks.
This is IO passing the waterfall.
day2-065_black_bear_pass.jpg

On the switchbacks I took this pic of Telluride.
day2-071_black_bear_pass.jpg

Here is Bridal Veil Falls. At the top is the old power station that is now a private residence.
day2-076_black_bear_pass.jpg

This next shot is on the way to Clear Lake (Day 3, Aug. 29, 2012)

Here are Larry and Dan tagging along on the way to Clear Lake
day3-09.jpg

Then on Day 4, Aug. 30, 2012 I headed to Poughkeepsie Gulch but I traveled on Lower Engineer Pass trail (same trail we were on the 1st day)
day4-02_lower_engineer_pass.jpg

Here's a mine on the way
day4-03_mine_on_lower_engineer_pass.jpg

On Poughkeepsie I climbed this ledge

After the wall I had to decend this next ledge. I got out to make sure I was taking the best route. I ended up going more to my left.
day4-25_poughkeepsie_gulch.jpg

After Poughkeepsie Gulch it started to hail at Sunnyside Saddle and I took these 2 pics:

day4-45_bonita_peak_and_hail.jpg

Then I headed for the Red Mountains and took this pic of my '79 CJ5 :

On Friday (the last day of trail rides) we headed to Beartown Site. Here is Larry's CJ5 :
day5-26_io.jpg

And here is Larry crossing Pole Creek (the first water crossing of the day)
_932712.jpg

Here we took a break at about where Beartown site was (we never did know for sure since there were no remnants left of Beartown)
day5-40_beartown_site.jpg

Then when we got to Kite Lake I took this picure of my dog Koda
day5-71_kite_lake.jpg

Then on the way back down from Kite Lake I took this picture of Dan looking for the best way down this rocky section.

Here is a picture of Dan and Denise being followed by Larry.

That was it, the last day of the 2nd annual trail ride.

That sure is some awesome scenery!

I hope the thread CJ puts together can show full screen size photos of this trip... It's hard to see the details! I can't wait to go with you guys next time!

I'm sure you know you can click on the bar at the top of the picture to make it a little bigger but I don't like this web site's "feature" to downsize images. Even at full size the images in our gallery are not very big and fit just fine on a laptop display with only 1024x768 resolution.

As a matter of fact the full size image downloads to our PCs and then you can see the images resize so this "feature" doesn't even help with download speeds.
