Lol, my fuel gauge is an autometer currently and it flip flops all over the place, i think the sender sucks on mine, k know to get gas when mine stalls going around a corner

Mine didn’t change at all. New tank, new in tank pump, pickup/sender and all new wiring ( Sniper), same thing as before. At fill up it moves up to around 2/3 rds. full. Gauge seems to work, just not accurate. :wtf::pissed:

Time to pull sender and check readings at full and empty…..

My daughter helped paint the new tow pig motor…. She got as far as the vibration dampner and part of the timing chain cover and she said she was good lol

I've been driving mine with this problem for so long that I expect it to still have five gallons in it when the gauge reads near empty. Ten gallons to fill it back up to just above three quarters is the norm. Most times, I am comfortable with that knowledge. I try to keep, in the back of my mind, that it is still a jeep and that could let me down when I least expect it. After all of these years, it's just another thing I'm use to and plan on living with. Like Belizean has discovered, I just might go through a lot of effort for no change. Now that would be a bummer

The other thought that rolls through my old brain pan is this. How many of those fifteen gallons of gas in the tank is usable? After 39 years of use, how much of that old tank holds gas that can't be reached because of dents and other anomalies? I am seriously considering extra gas storage for off roading in Moab this spring. Better safe than sorry.

Lol, dents or rust holes,

I went with a 20 gallon plastic tank because that

Yeah I would like a little more once in a while also. Probably a little over 30 years ago when mine was the DD 15 gal was to little so I put in a 22 gal longer range tank. Work great except when wheeling. It would bottom out several times. I’m thinking about a rack on spare tire carrier, used only on a longer distance trail. Not for road use. How many gallons are you usually using a full day of wheeling on average

Usually, a tankful gets me through the wheeling and I come out at a place where I can refuel. I haven't done Moab yet and looking at trail lengths and lack of refuel points has me wondering. Around Colorado trails I've been close to empty a couple of times but always made it to a pump. I'm thinking about the spare tire packs as well. Peace of mind type of thing

Got a couple of those RotoPax cans

pricey but hard to beat in terms of flexibility of mounting types/location

A lot less cumbersome than the old jerry can mounts

You using spare tire rim mount ?
