Well this morning I got as far as drilling up the old pitman arm enough that I could bolt the new tie rod in to check how much turning I have and I can go lock to lock on the axle which is good

I thought about that when the tub was off the frame - but decided carpet was much easier. And with my metal working skills, who knows what I'd end up with.....

when I get mine painted I want to Line x the inside of the tub and wheel wells so I have a few dents to straighten out before hand, one of the members here put line x on the inside of the fenders and engine bay side of the firewall I am considering that as well for sound absorption


I sure hate spending a bunch of money on banjo bolts for my brakes but I found some on Rockauto for $1.5 each and it cost more to ship them than the bolts cost which is still less than Orielly Auto wants for 1 but they are now on order so I can look at finish installing everything and getting the brake system full of fluid and bled out

going to try and install my drivers spindle bearings, hub, rotor and lockout this moring

Got the driver side put tofgether need to clean and paint caliper still but that Goodyear looks so right on a jeep and no rubbing.

My Jeep is being built around me wanting a 35 inch Goodyear Duratrac tire and a Mickey Thompson Classic III rim in a 17 or 18. The Goodyears are to expensive in the 18 inch so I got the biggest 17inch they make which is the 315/70r17 and Mickey only makes 1 size in the 17x9, with 4.5 back spacing. It would be more ideal to have a 10 inch or wider rim for my tire width from that choice I decided to do a spring over on stock YJ springs to get the height I need and I narrowed my axles based on the clearance I got on the actual tire rim combo which wound up being 60 inch axle with 1 inch clearance on the springs when turned lock to lock up front

My engine is complete, filling it up with coolant, need to replace the fuel filter, and some fuel lines on the engine, then I'm gonna try and test start it.

I'm for sure getting nervous, have put a lot of money into this thing, as most of us have.

It seems when Mickey Thompson switched from the Classic II to the III, they no longer machine the inner bore to fit Jeep CJ axles. This applies on the 15 in series only.

I'll think about it over the weekend and decide if I want to spring more money for the 17 and the corresponding tire.

strange, I just looked up their website and it shows the 15x10 to be bored at 106 millimeters and it shows the 17 to be bored at 106 millimeters as well are you sure the info you got is correct?

Another step closer, this is a stock YJ pitman arm, it's shorter end to end than a CJ arm if I can't turn my steering stop to stop on the axle I will look for another arm later but this will get me on the road now and I can figure out a better solution later if need be

MT is saying the hub bore is 106.5 mm on the classic III's, and a stock CJ is 108 mm.


There's definitely some conflicting comments out there. The only notes I see all say that center caps are not available for Jeep CJ and Ford.

I'll have to do some more research.

I have owned my rim about a year now and at the time the Classic 11 and classic 111 were in production, so my 17" fits my Jeep hub and of course I can't get my calipers to fit in the hole to get a good measurement

Do you know if you have the 2's or 3's?

It definitely seems to fit the CJ hub.

I wonder why MT would say they don't fit!
