I am baffled and need direction. My Jeep has a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with MSD ignition and kill switch. When I bought the Jeep all was fine and I figured out how not to kill the battery. Now I go to start the jeep and turn ignition switch and it clicks once then kills entire electrical system. If I disconnect the negative battery terminal and then reconnect it it will allow me to try again with same result. Battery tests fine so no issue there. Replaced the solenoid with same result. Cleaned grounds same result. Have not replaced the starter looks to be OEM with 103K on the Jeep. Open for suggestions. Thanks

Wait.

elwood blues pointed you in the right direction. What you have is a circuit that stays on when your vehicle is turned off, draining your battery overnight. I have the same problem: My stereo. I have to remove the faceplate or my battery is dead overnight.

Batteries can effectively be tested without loading them. The equipment they have at car parts stores can do that. And your battery hardly sees a load once your engine starts and your charging circuit is in good health. There are videos on how to isolate circuits that fail to shut off when they should including faulty wires. Good luck.

I am going to go through and test the circuits. I believe the problem still exists and I don't want that feeling of will it start when I turn the key. Cleaned all my grounds and am going to look at stereo as well. Getting all the cobwebs out of a new purchase takes time and then the next one surfaces. Love new projects

Good news!

Good to hear!
