Engine dent in oil pan

so my old oil pan had a dent in it that i assumed came from my worn out front drive shaft wobbling around. well i now have a new driveshaft and a new oil pan (attached to a new motor) (long story) well after less than 600 miles on the new motor and only one short small off road trip i now have another dent in my new oil pan in the same spot as the old one. something is obliviously hitting it but im not sure what. before you ask i have brand new polyurethane motor mounts and yes theyre tight. im not sure what is hitting the pan rather its the pinion drive shaft or what but obliviously nothing should be contacting the pan to begin with

Shot in the dark here, shouldn't the bump stops keep the axle from going that high? Do you have a lift ? Were the bump stops extended? Do the bump stops look like they have been getting hit?

You mentioned a new motor - what type, mounted differently, etc? When I installed my SBC with 70R4 tranny, I needed to offset the motor to one side just slightly, and also use a thinner front drive shaft, to avoid this very issue. Also echoing "yellow85cj" that perhaps the bump stop for the front axle needs investigating/extending.

I did that very thing and the skid plate was grabbed by the yoke. My bump stop was loose on the right when it happened. Pretty sure that allowed the shaft to slop left on deflection.
