So, I feeling really stupid having to even bring this up, but im going to. I just changed my oil, because its been about 500 miles since the new cam shaft install. So, drain the oil, take offf the old filter (K&N HP 2003), but the only new filter i have on the shelf is a Purolator PL25288. They are the same thread, but the Purolator is physically smaller than the K&N. After finishing up, and refilling with oil, I go to start it and the engine seemed to pause before it rolled over. Almost like the battery didnt have enough CCA to get it to roll over, but the battery isn't even 6 months old, and didn't do this yesterday...

I guess what I'm dancing around is, is the smaller filter causing to much oil pressure? Is that even possible? Is it a big deal? Should i just run it, or get a bigger filter? I only tried to crank it twice and both times it hesitated pretty hard before it rolled over, so I stopped.

Thanks guys :chug:

I googled it Elwood, and you are not the only one with that is interested in that topic. I would suggest a little research with your starting issue though, like begin with a voltmeter then check connections.

Id say no way the oil is related. Check out Wix filters website and you can look up any application then review the filters specs suck as threads, bypass, micron rating etc.

Yeah, so I'm an idiot :bang: Somewhere along the line I rotated the distributor :bang: It moved far enough that the engine was so out of time, it was f-ing with everything.

Two things; apparently the distributor clamp down had wiggled its way loose, allowing me to very easily move the dizzy. That also explains the oil leak around the dizzy.

Thanks you guys :chug:

Yeah, so I'm an idiot. :chug:

Now that we have confirmation I'll sleep better. :p

Dont be so hard on yourself. This kinda :dung: happens to everyone. Some of us are just honest enough to admit it. ;)

Gee thanks Pete :p

Gee thanks Pete :p

Between my different build threads I think I am the King of Fo-Pa's. If my mistakes help someone else avoid them so be it. :chug:

Good point Pete :chug:

Since I am constantly tinkering with something, I might as well document my screw ups for everyone to learn from :D
