Have a set of three Hella relays from the pick n pull. Problem is I can't find out how many amps they are.

From the parts number Google search found them on ebay but none of the descriptions tell amps.

Closest I have come is 20/40 amps. So is it 20 or 40? Or does that mean something else?

Part number molded in is 960 388-13 25530731

Any one know how many amps these things can handle?

Sorry can't seem to post pics. Nothing in the menu bar works.

I guess the question here is what are you wanting to run with a relay. Most of the common relays found on the modern vehicles today will handle 20 to 30 amps. Any higher than that and I would go to a solenoid. It is basically a big relay. Since we use them on starters it would handle a large halogen light array. Here is a picture of some common relays and their connections:

Here is another one for off-road lights:

Hope this helps some.

Well, I am putting the CJ back together, trying to get the engine side wiring sorted out ( and there are some very strange things with the 4cyl fuse block going to 6cyl wiring) and here comes the horn.

The CJ horn, while possibly iconic, kinda says "excuse me". Around here a horn(s) need to say "WAKE UP STUPID".

What says that better than an old set of Cadillac horns. Yep, 4 tuned horns, A,C,D and F tones. What a beautiful sound.

Plan to run two horns each of two relays. They are the weather proof type that have a mount for three relays that can bolt to the fender easily. Don't recall the car I pulled them from. But they should be easy to mount and the power feed and out appear to be 12 ga.

Possibly pull another set at the pick n pull and use for headlights.

By the way, do I need to do something different to post pics or get the smilies to work? Did I miss something?

There are several way to do pictures. I prefer using Photobucket. The account is free and you can put lots of pictures on it. From there you open up your library, then select the picture you want to post, click on the icon that looks like a chain link. A drop down menu pops up and you simply click on the photo link. That puts the picture on your clipboard. Now go to your post and where you want the picture, just do a paste ( Ctrl + V ). Now you have a large picture in your post, not just a thumbnail.

Here is more information on other ways: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f16/how-attach-images-post-1270/

Thanks for the info, but I have posted pics before. Just not working the same way as it did. I use google photos. Get the link and when I try to click on the little yellow pic in the menu bar the way I always have, nothing happens. It is though the function has been turned off. Smilies do the same. Seems the best I can get is putting the link in the post and letting viewers click on the link to see the pic.

works this way. At least when I do a preview post. Would you let me know if it works for you?
